Title: ISP
Post by: Particle on December 21, 2002 12:39 pm CST
Do any of you go through Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. or one of their subsidaries? I'm banning their entire range of IP's if not.

Bellsouth here too.  Crash, how fast are your downloads when you download from a capable download server (like gamespy)?  And do you use a USB or Ethernet modem?

I get about 150-155kbps downloads using my usb modem.

Actually, that should have been:  Thats shizzle.  Dizzle on my fizzle whizzle with the cizzle on the telivizzle.

Oh well.

Im gonna set up a Linksys powerline network in my house.  Hope my downloads arent as "shizzle" as you get.

I live in a rich area, where everyone is running it.
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Darwin on December 21, 2002 08:36 pm CST
You mean running on the same ethernet?  Or running on the same powerline ethernet?  You know, if you have your powerline network hooked into a wall without protection, you can share your connection with EVERYONE in your power grid (which I guess is about the size of a neighborhood).

I wish I lived in NY, so I could just stick a WI-Fi reciever out the window and get free T3 access.

I don't think I could do that.  Seems like leeching to me.

Leeching from money monger ISP's is A-ok with me.
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Darwin on December 22, 2002 08:30 am CST
Yeah, I wouldnt mind leeching off of Enron, and I'm sure thats what everyone would do.

If I ever found a way to steal a T3 or OC3 connection, I would plug it into the wall with my powerline adaptor, so I could share it with everyone.  <3 ....
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Particle on December 22, 2002 08:49 am CST
ISP's don't put out WiFi networks.  You'd be leeching from hard-working customers' WiFi networks.

I dont know what I would do with 50, 000 lbs of gold, nor would I ever know how to move 50k lbs of gold.

I think I would just fit as many gold bars as I could in my pants and jacket and run.

Sure, why do you think it would bother me if I stole like 1/100 of a % of the gold from the U.S's gold exchange?

D:
In all honesty, if I could afford it, I would pay for my own internet service. If I couldn't on the other hand, I would probably go outside and get a life. But, I live at home with my parents, so that isn't an issue.

As for the gold....
How would I move it?

I called enterprise.  They are all out.

I live with my parents too.  After all, I'm only 16.  But, I dont have much of a life when I'm at my dad's house since nobody lives near me, so I play tribes rpg and visit the forums.

Of course, when im at my other house I have tons of friends who live near me, and have a perfectly normal social life.

So I guess it all balances out.

Post by: Crash on December 26, 2002 08:31 pm CST
Being high and being stupid are two seperate things. Most everyone I have ever seen high didn't go babbling on like an idiot.

And no, getting an ip range is really quite easy. When banning, you just do 255.255.*.*

Anything with the prefix 255.255 will be banned.

Hmmm, I thought Particle lived in the midwest.
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Particle on December 27, 2002 06:15 am CST
I live in the midwest like Darwin says.  All I need is your IP and any whois service can easily tell me who it belongs to.  If they are part of the range purchased by your ISP (as opposed to a small individual set owned by a customer, like some broadband ISP's do) then it'll show your ISP and what range of IPs they own.  That simple.  Block what they own and then it blocks you.

dont ban anythin thats 10.0.0.*  !!!! lol thats my supposed IP i dont know myu real one my bro is teh gateway.....so what happens if you ban 10.0.0.3? will it ban me....or do you have to know my real IP?
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Particle on December 27, 2002 06:33 am CST
That's a network IP. If I banned the 10.x.x.x range, I'd just ban myself and the rest of my network. You reach the internet with a different IP.

I see the IP of everybody with every post, btw.  Yours starts 216.x.x.x

Wow, that really sucks.  You know, when I went on vacation, I went to a house that had an allright 3D card, and allright processor, and an allright IC, but terrible memory.  So everytime I go to that house for a vacation, I bring a stick of 128mb memory just for temporary use.  I know its kinda geeky, but I just cant stand playing TRPG with 32mb memory.

Ahem, here is a great instance where this guy got a malarkeyload of RAM for the price of a 256.

That's 1536MB of RAM, and it was early in the summer when there was a good deal on quality 512MB modules of PC2700 DDR... it went up afterward.  I spent about 325 dollars.

w00t!  Darwin made a phunny!

HNey, quick question, what do you use Nickle for?  It's fairly rare (cause you only get a few on a mining run, and you have to be a high level).  So, does (or will) nickle serve some special purpose?

Hmm, nickle plated armor...
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Particle on December 31, 2002 06:15 am CST
Well, if we wern't so dern limited on items...  That sorta cuts plans short.  Nickel isn't too hard to mine, actually.  All of the gems were put in order about a month ago or more.
Title: Re: Notice: ISP
Post by: Darwin on December 31, 2002 08:34 am CST
I know that the nickle isnt too hard to mine, but it is (kinda) semi-rare since I only get like 5 nickle to one mining run.
