Buying bots, LvL'n bots, Server Side Quests?
« on: February 3, 2003 09:28 am CST »
Hey ya know i was thinking and would it be possible to re-enable the option to buy bots and maybe make it so when u have one u get party exp and the bots lvl also with you and stay strong and you keep them until you disconnect? Well that would be kind of cool. Another thing i was wondering is can we replace that stupid tranceph quest with a diff tranceph quest that would be as hard or harder then dust.... I just wanted a few quests i can do inside the server that would take a couple day's possibly a week to get all the stuff and complete the quest. I just think after a while u get tired of lvl'in and tired of remorting and just wanna have some fun so most the time we hold "Bash Party's" i really dont know but give me some feedback.

Sounds like a fair idea.

FireWire those where very interesting idea's :)...
Here are problem's I could see as a result of the bot thing: More lag because everyone will want 1 bot plus ur own char, also there would be many complications since if it is to gain levels it's  skills wouldnt go up and stuff, so bascicly it would be just like putting it back but leaving it on till u long off... causing lots of afkers that dont want 2 loose their precious lil bot...  Something that could partially help but not really is to have a bot that could have it's own personal character file that wouldnt just go away so that ppl wouldnt stay on but that causes alot of coding problems...

What I suggest as a result: Re-enable the bot thingny with minor modifications depending on what the majority wants taking in consideration all pro's and con's...

Bots are just too plain stupid at the moment.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

How about bot "pets"?
Use a small models that can be converted to resemble an animal and have it permantly next to you and automaticall looks at/attacks anything dog/cat must be equiped like a shield and stands to your left . attack bird must be equiped and remains above your head like the orbs.

The only original member of the server still active and the staunchest supporter of the administration and Particle's rules.
4th in doghouse. Last in actual server and forum rules broken.

eViL, you were probably the coolest but most misunderstood person in this community.. maybe the rest will find out how cool of a person you are some day, and don't get too mad at the people who dont understand you.. its their loss in the end.

Now that this topic has been brought back up.. I have an idea where it "might" work.

As Particle said, the AI is too dumb..

It wouldn't take that much, but you could make smarter AI with doign jsut simple things.. Hell I made AI smarter with admin...

As for INC's idea, all I have to say is familiar anyone? It would be a great addition to have familiars(mages only) but then again, you need to realize.. The leveling/remort system wasn't made to do thigns like this.. That is why it works so well in AD&D.

Now saving bots would be possible.. just add a few lines to the char file when it saves.. And of course you would have to summon it via a spell..

It would be a great addition, but as I said, too many things need to be worked out before it would "fit"
