Color changing LED's
« on: April 25, 2005 11:12 pm CDT »
I currently have an Aspire X-Dreamer II case with 6 really bright LED's on the front.  One has recently gone out, so I have been seeking replacement.

Here, I found blue/red 5mm LED's.  Just curious, do they change automatically, in that nice trance-inducing way?  Do you think it would be bright enough?

Changing bright lights? blah blah blah. All that matters is that you get the cheap Caffeinated Mints. eüromint® caffeine cinnamons.

I have no idea, since my first instinct when it comes to money and my computer tells me to upgrade things like ram, video card, sound card, etc..  I could honestly care less what my computer looks like, as long as it works =)  I know a few people from my old networking class that have some pretty tricked out systems, though..  more lights than my eyes can handle o_O

I'm sure they fade from blue to red, or visa versa, since they boast about how their LCDs are "the real deal"   8)

For less than $2, i feel the effect is worthwhile

*edit*

I can't lie..  I have some crazy lights going on here too.  Iv'e actually got that color changing LED mousepad, and those 2 LED glow stick things that connect to USB (bright blue).  The mousepad is badass though..  it morphs all different colors.

I have 5 "rifle bearing" 40m fans in my case which unfortunately came with LEDs on them.

I have cut the LEDs from 2 of the fans so far.

As a friend who saw my computer said "your computer looks like a pile" and I said "that's good, because now I know it won't get stolen by a person who doesn't know computers."

If I were going to make my case rad... I would have to start from scratch and make a really nice case... kind of a waste of my time though.

I would go with those lights if you like them.

My case came as a pre-mod, but Ive done quite a bit of cutting and drilling and the like in mine.

40mm fans?  why so small?

I don't know... that's the standard case fan size... and they were the only ones with rifle bearings.

My case is the cheapest I could find on newegg with out a power supply made by raidmax... I didn't think of aesthetics when I purchased it... and all of the cases I looked at had 40mm case fan area.

I guess it just doesn't matter to me if my computer generates more wind and sound than an apache.

Raidmax.    No wonder.  I got a raidmax case for my girlfriend's computer.  Ugliest hunkajunk I've ever laid eyes on.

Why... would they make a 60mm fan hole on her case?  It can fit at least an 80mm or a 92mm!

Raidmax is normally considered to be fairly high quality.  Was it just cheap?

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

This is a link to my case:
http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6811156011

It has what I needed:
No PSU
4 3.5" internal drive bays.
4 5.25" drive bays.
2 3.5" drive bays.
No window.
Air flow holes in front, back, and sides.
Under 30$  (well, it was when I purchased it, including shipping.)

I agree with Particle, RAIDMAX makes very very strong cases compared to any other brand I have used/seen since about..... 1999, when I purchased my last large case which was all steel and thick.
