I'm pretty sure with that much speed, I could live with software renders...  It's got plenty left over to beat graphics cards.  Just have to teach it OpenGL and DirectX.

lol yes, with 5 teraflops (I think is what I read) it would probably be able to do that also.

Live action software renders are slow no matter how much power is behind them which is why there are graphics cards to handle them; if you were rendering animated scene, the story would be different.

What is this "Teach it" thing I have been hearing/reading of late?  You can't teach a computer malarkey goddamnit!
;-p

(not being a jerk in the above, just... pointing some stuff out for fun)

Anyway... I don't case mod, but I allways have case mod ideas and plans... anything in particluar you are looking for?

Ideas. Im really into painting it right now, ive got lots of color scheme and design ideas. Right now, one of my side panels is two toned line-down-the-diagnol, crimson on one side, black on the other. The other side of the case looks kinda like an old fashion Photon Torpedo from Star Trek: Wrath of Khan. And the front bezel is forrest green and the plates are white. I also took off the face plates of my cd rom and replaced it with the spare face plates i had, so now when they're closed, the CD- drives are hidden  :D  Its pretty cool looking. I made it so I just have to press on the face plate and the drive would open.

I did my first case paint job about a year ago.  Here are some tips.

Patience Patience Patience while painting.

For a cool glossy look, use automotive sandpaper (wet/dry).  Wet down the sandpaper before beginning.  Start with a heavy grit (300 grit I'd say) and work your way up to about 700 grit i guess.  Get it ALL smoothed down.

Paint it with a primer.  Give it a nice, thin, even coat with the primer.  Side to side motion at about 1 and a half to two feet away from the case.

Let the primer dry for the rest of the day.

On day 2, start painting with color.  Again, paint side to side at a foot and 1/2 to 2 feet away in thin, even coats.  Make sure you shake well often so that you dont get globs.

Should any globs or anomolies appear, use a very fine wet/dry sandpaper (wet it down) and lightly sand out the glob.

Put a coat on, let it dry for an hour, then add another coat.  Keep repeating this process until satisfied.  Even let it dry for another day and keep adding coats.  Mine had around 7 coats.

Let it dry for another day.

Put a clearcoat on it!  IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT!  Just spray it on the same way you did with the paint.  Let it dry, sand if needed, and you'll be done!

Here is an old Gateway 2000 case from 1996 that I painted last year:

This machine currently holds:

Intel Pentium 2.4C @ 3.2ghz
1g OCZ value ram
9800Pro (above XT)

Heh heh, and its for my grandparents!  A dedicated folding machine for Uberclockers.com!

I might be mistaken, but I thought the XT was the top end over the pro..?

Heh Darwin did u get those instructions out of Maximum PC magazine? Cuz I have an issue that gives u EVERYTHING u need to paint a case, and ive been using them, and its turning out well. Everything you said was exactly what they said in the Mag. Thanks tho. Im looking for some Hand Glaze and Polish to shine it up. Anyone know where to buy something similar that'll do the job? the only place i can find the stuff that they show in the mag is at 3m.com...and Id have to buy in bulk.
