Linux Server for UT2004: http://www.filerush.com/torrents/ut2004 ... z2.torrent (http://www.filerush.com/torrents/ut2004-lnxded-demo-3120.tar.bz2.torrent)

Bit torrent is needed for that link

The engine for UT2004 is far more optimized than the UT2003 version, so people with subpar hardware can run this decently. From what I've seen, UT2003 gripers seem to like the demo.

Sweeet, you linux users won't be left out of the gameplay.

The linux client will be coming out very soon as well, a few bugs are being squashed.
There will be a 32 bit and  a 64 bit version for linux.

http://http://www.linuxgames.com/

Be sure to tell the Linux client programmer Ryan "Icculus" Gordon of how awesome he is for making the linux client... icculus@clutteredmind.org

I was just trying to illicit a response from the message board viewers.  The game I have not seen yet and therefore may not judge, though the improovements sound good over the previous version.  I did not appreciate ut2k3, so I am not sure if I will appreciate ut2k4 either.

Sorry... my joke wasn't very obvious.. :-)

Its basicly ut2k3/halo mp. With the vehicles and all.

I accualy liked XMP much more than ut2k4. Im a bit disapointed accualy since i thought the gameplay would be more like XMP's was where teamplay accualy made a difference. Ohh well.

I do...

I would use it all the time if I could get IE to work with WINE.

And no it isn't because I like IE as a browser.

Onslaught is very fun to play, it requires a lot of team coordination. The vehicles aren't weaks like the ones in XMP (3 emp nades = boom), so that means theres actual stategic importance in using them.

I loved assault and am glad that Digital Extreme brought it back into the UT series. The atmospheric feel of AS-Convoy  is refeshing, the feeling that you're speeding through a desert canyon is well conveyed. This map reminds me a lot of AS-HighSpeed( Assualt level taking place on a train) from UT, but a lot less linear.

I'm definitely preordering the UT 2004 DVD-ROM, plus I'll be saving $20.00 because I purchased UT2003 a year before.

UT2k4 > UT2k3

This game is insanely addicting in onslaught mode. So much fun and teamwork in that mode.

Yeah, but it sucks when your teammates are clueless dipmalarkeys who defend the main base when it's not even vulnerable...

I've switched my style from attacking nodes to defending the currently vulerable node, it really helps secure your team's place on the map...

The only thing that wins ons maps is non stop spawn killing with the manta.

Assuming both teams don't know how to use the shock rifle for combos  :)

I love using Hellbender's shock turret.  That is the single most coolest thing I've ever seen done in a computer game.  Ever.

There are so many 'little' things in this game it is amazing.  It has already won my $50.00.

I defend nodes until their base is vulnerable, then I grab the redeemer, and guide a big fat rocket in by sight. It's beautiful, the explosion that follows...

Does anyone have a pneumatic chair lift that leaks?  Is there anyway to fix that?

Try shock comboing me when im flying at you at 500mph. O, and shock core does jack all to vehicles anyway. Flak = Manta trasher.

What i mean is, it seems to me, the thing that dominates and usualy is the eventual cause of a win is the team that has the monst manta riders running people down trying to repair and stuff. Right off the start the first thing i do is hop in a manta and head down to the enemy node and run them down while they are trying to set up. Even just delaying them a minute turns the tides right off the start, since my team is able to flawlessly take the middle along with the side.

Manta needs a freakin nerf. But i think when they un-newb the game [aka adding team damage] people wont be able to brainlesly fly those things all over since they will mow down team mates while they are at it. Sigh...why did they have to make the demo with no team damage....

I found the Tribes 2 model SDK if anyone is interested, it has what I want. All model files are in .max format (3d Studio Max)
