Title: PCRPG IRC Chat Update
Post by: Corona on March 18, 2007 08:10 pm CDT
Since there seems to be an influx of users who actually play the gameserver registering on the forums lately, I'd just like to remind people that if you're a PCRPG addict, you can still catch up on what's happening in the game while you're at work/at school/visiting relatives/etc without having Tribes installed.

Step 1 (this only needs to be done once!): Log-on to PCRPG with your character. Type the following:

Code: [Select]
#tell Tokath, setcode CODEWORD
(Where CODEWORD is a secret word you will use to sign on to the chat. Do not use your character's password, your msn password, or anything else. It must be unique to PCRPG Chat.)

Step 2 (this has to be done every time you chat): Click here (http://http://www.linneberg.com/irc.html). Type your character's name and click Login. When the chatroom has loaded and you can see people chatting in the gameserver, type the following:

Code: [Select]
/msg Tokath CODEWORD
(Where CODEWORD is the codeword you set in step 1.)

A plus sign (+) should then appear beside your name on the list of users on the right side of the chat display. Now just type your message to send to the game server, preceeded by the ! symbol. e.g.,

Code: [Select]
!hi i'm chatting from my bathroom lol wifi

Common Problems:
Q: When I login to the chat, my name is cut short (e.g., SomeLongName becomes SomeLongN)
A: The IRC server requires that your name be 9 characters or less. You can create a new PCRPG character just for chatting purposes.

Q: The chat is slow.
A: I know.

Q: When I type a !message, nobody can hear me, and it doesn't say "message sent."
A: Tokath broke. Try again later.

Q: These aren't really questions.
A: Fork you, I've been up 30 hours and have work in 3 hours.

Paradox - You and I use mIRC, so it isn't :) But the web-chat IRC is pretty slow
