Same.  New models, prefabs, relighting, terrain, etc = download.  Anybody that wants to say differently can code their own way around it for PCRPG... then I'll stop saying that all the time.  Until then:  new models, prefabs, relighting, terrain, etc = download.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

so, i have a question then... lets say someone makes a spell, and uses the graphics from tribes, in order to give it some sort of special effect. does that = download? i know weapons dont, unless you change the skins... and man, if i knew how to skin weapons, i sure as hell would make some new ones for your server part.

also, who cares about downloading a patch.. i mean, i play games that require patches all the time. half life, requires an 80 mb patch, from vers. 1.0.0.9 - 1.1.1.0. i honestly would embrace having to download patches and updates in order to have a different trpg experience. unless theres some greater reason out there why downloading sucks... im sure evil will point it out for me ;). anyway, if Anyone can help me skin weapons for tribes, i would be grateful...

EDIT: found a dts exporter for 3dsmax 4/3 and one for milkshape, which of these two would allow me to skin weapons faster? i know a little about 3dsmax, and i think i dled milkshape a long time ago, i just cant remember what was easier...

I remember someone did from a while back.  He was making models and such... Let me see if I can find it on the forum history- sorry couldn't find it.  I think some of the old posts aren't on here because Particle had to use a backup version of the forums some time ago and I think some of the posts are lost in the infinite void of time/space.  But I'm sure someone can remember his name.

-edit-
Yes, thank you Pecker, he was Coalchamber.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

Something about newbies getting confused with having to download something additionally to the normal RPG download*shrug* :P

Particle wants this server to be newbie friendly.. And I would get pissed if I were to dl a 50 mb file and find out I couldn't play on a server without downloading another file. So I just wouldn't play on that server.

And if someone where to make a new spell like you just asked, no they wouldn't need to.. Those are still tribes textures and everyone has them allready.

Unless I seperated myself from TRPG completely (which wouldn't be fair, considering JI did most of the work) then no downloads for us.

[edit]
Well, I say that.  I'd have two servers, one being normal PCRPG and another being a DL PCRPG version for all of the people that really want something fresh and new.  It would most likely have changing maps and junk.

Why not get rid of ALL the patches and make 1 big patch that has all the updates and the new maps and crap so you only have to do one dowload instead of chasing around thru the iternet for 1 damn patch, i spent hours getting the patch cause i didnt have gamespay and couldnt find the freeservers

Another reason they are still in 3 seperate updates is because the official file downloading page can't be accessed by anyone but TangWei--and he is no longer part of the community.

It is easier to do it in small patches like that if JI needed to change something.
