Well if you did manage to get 1.40 looking like that congrats.  But there are a few issues that make me doubt the picture.

The fps is only 36 fps, even when I loaded a bunch of stuff into 1.40 I never dropped below 55 fps.
The terrain looks heavily doctored, from what I have tested you can't really ramp up the terrain details (i.e. full mountains, and with that smoothness) and in fact mapping terrain in 1.40 is actually a lot more glitchy/impractical than 1.11.
Also I don't know this for sure, but I am fairly confident client scripts wouldn't get access the the internal velocity of your character (ie the speed of 30)

Besides that most of what is shown on screen (in terms of huds) could be achieved, probably with a fair amount of ease if someone is good at gui editing.

Looks a tad better than regular tribes, but with no 1.40 that will ever be finished due to it getting dropped completely (GG no longer exists)...

Yea it really is too bad that GG didn't do anything after the beta was leaked...it could have been great.  The scripting abilities that they added were great though, GUI's easy to modify, you can actually capture calls to functions without having to re implement them, and the game just seems to run smoother.

As a small side note have you tried putting any high detailed DTS's into the game yet to see if it can handle high poly counts...strangely I didn't really think about trying that...maybe I will do it over Christmas break.

Not only did it run smoother, but it utilized graphics cards so much better than 1.11. The png texture format was tremendiously better over the pheonix bitmap too. I did have some crashing to desktop problems at some points wich im sure would have been fixed in the final. HiRez now owns all the rights to the series and plans on making an MMO out of Tribes (?). As for poly count on models im not sure how high 1.11 can go. Some (dtf) shapes im working on have over 5000 wich really isnt very high. At some point for sure tho, the old compile tools junk out on you when you have too much.

Ok so I did a test RJ.  Seems like 1.40 actually can handle a fairly high polygon count (at least for simple shapes, too lazy to test large shapes).

I attached a screenshot of a test.dts object, the 3 circles I circled (one is kind of hidden) each contain > 2080 triangles, and the entire blue blob of an object contains roughly 8240 triangles (I animated it so they crossed each other) + the surrounding objects triangle count.  My fps hovered at 60 fps.  So 1.40 actually performed pretty well.

Sup everyone, it's pretty quiet around here. Just droppin by to see what everyones up to. I saw this thread, and decided to do a little gaming in the tribes world, so i went over to teamwarfare to find a link to the tribes download, and found this: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104668-Tribes-Back-in-Business-As-Persistent-Shooter-MMO
