I downloaded Audacity today when I was searching for a sound recorder replacement. I recently moved to XP x64 Edition, and the sound editing program that came with my Audigy didn't install like it does in normal 32-bit XP.
You may be wondering why I'm looking for a program to do this today. Well, I was planning on making TPIPCRPG Episode 4, but when I opened Audacity and started messing with it I found something. The multi-track stuff took me by surprise when I was test recording, so I played with it a bit.
Heh. Here's some fake beatboxing.

Coolness. You can make and mix your own tracks and stuff? Nice.

It's something from nothing. I'm prepping episode 4's recording right now.

Nice that Audacity is getting multi track. Have you tried Reaper? it's uncrippled, no nag, un expiring shareware. available here http://http://www.cockos.com/reaper/
For shareware (freeware really) It's the closest thing to Sonic Foundry's Acid I could find. Complete with a bunch of effects plugin (assignable to channel(s))
