limit ((1+n)^(1/n)) = e
n->0
or
limit ((1+(1/n))^n) = e
n->infinity
those are just fyi in you need them....
here is what you are trying to prove:
limit M((1+(k/n))^(n*t)) = C(e^(k*t))
n->infinity
it is basically the PeRT formula is equal to the compounding continously formula where C and M are both constants, t is time, and k is just some number (varies).

the problem is solving icer, solve the damn thing, its impossible because it requires dividing an equation by the (n*t) root which can get very frickin nasty very quickly and i need a better way to solve it.
if you want it a little better to read, go here:

I'm guessing it's not really impossible?
btw I know nothing of calculus =\

im in precal pre ap, i remember doing the " as N approaches infinity" stuff, but not that deep

In Algebra II, we just came across this thing called "imaginary numbers." IMAGINARY NUMBERS! WTHFGD is that? I smarted off to my teacher and took a quiz with an imaginary pencil and an imaginary peice of paper.

whats wrong with imaginary numbers?
i is the square root of -1
i^2 is -1
i^3 is the negative square root of -1
i^4 is 4
and then the pattern repeats forever in multiplies of 4...
i^64 = i^(4*16) = i^4 = 1... they come in handy when reducing large exponents of i

See, I got this ipod... see... and when I get in that class, the headphones go on. He doesnt care.
-
Do you actually enjoy math Evil?
-
i live in math .
and by the way, the problem has been solved.
1. C0(e^kt) = M0 * (lim as n->inf of ((1+(k/n))^(nt)))
2. C0(e^kt) = M0 * 1
3. e^kt = M0/C0
4. ln e^kt = ln(M0/C0)
5. kt = ln(M0/C0)
6. C0(e^ln(M0/C0)) = M0 (from step 2, just plug in info)
7. C0 * (M0/C0) = M0
8. M0 = M0
problem solved.

I feel stupid. 0_0

imaginary numbers are easy... i love calculus, and trig is my fav subject in calculus.. sooooo much more interesting than alg 2 i feel.. cause it actually has meaning, and use..
-
Omg, what has the world gone to? POSTING MATH EQUATIONS ON A GAME FORUM??! Get that evil stuff outta here, this isn't math class!
I'll go get the de-contamination spray.
-
oo that stuff tastes like candy!! mmmm
-
nitel, some people on these forums do care about math because they like it and with that said, you can either shut the fork up or you can just get the fork lost because i don't believe we need your bullmalarkey comments spamming up the forum with useless stuff like "i hate that" or "get rid of it" because we need to get rid of your opinionated ass.

I like math in general...but im only a junior in high school. Im just about to start Honors Pre-Calc....the Imaginary numbers thing I got..everything else is way outta my league. I like math, I really do...but I struggle at it, no matter how much I like it
-
hopefully it wont be so much of a pain in the ass as it was for me... i have a teacher that counts of SOOOOO much stupid malarkey... you have to show every piece of work and how u got there.. u cant take shortcuts.. i hate her unsavory woman ass
-
same here remote i hate teachers that are like that
-
yeah lol.. i like math too, and im smart.. but when i get every question on a test right.. and she counts off like -3 or -4 here, just cause u dont show every little way u got there or some other stupid crap.. it sucks and makes me hate it >_<
-
The furthest I got into math was limits :/ ... Math is fun to learn and essential for programming, I'm forcing calculus into my head whenever I can. http://http://mathworld.wolfram.com
Oh yeah, I do great in math, but this thing called homework (meant to keep lazy, yet intelligent students consider suicide) kept me for showing how good I was... I ace tests, I don't do homework
I look forward to college calc
-
limits are nice... expecially l'hospitals (pronounced: lo pee tals) rule. that rule can get you a limit on specific functions even if you can't see to find one using any conventional methods.
derivitives can be cool... depending on what you have to take the derivitive of, then it can be a pain in the ass... find the derivitive of y with respect to x is what it means y = (ln(tan(x)sec(x)))^3
so overall, math isn't bad, but calculus you really have to understand and like to do good at...
and by the way, the answer to the question in paragraph 2 is:
y' = (3(ln(tan(x)sec(x)))^2) * (1/(tan(x)sec(x))) * (sec^2(x)sec(x)tan(x))
simplify:
y' = (3(ln(tan(x)sec(x)))^2) * (sec^2(x))

Bah, obviously eVil can't take sarcasm...
Maybe you're right, eVil, I should leave if I don't like it and you all do. The only thing that would hold me back is the satisfaction you would feel. But then again, the only reason I stop by these forums is for help and the continuous story. But now that's basically dead. All the fun has been sucked out and replaced with math prolems. I suppose I'm wasting time here. Cya all later, then! I'll be on the TRPG forums.
humpfest pwns
-
yay, one less dumbass!
-
Wow, eVil, I thought you were a more mature person than to cheer about it. Like when I argue with you, you gave reasons of why you dislike me, when others will just say 'stfu n00b'.
-
oh, i usually am nicer about it and would say "bye nitel" rather than that. but when you started dissing math even though there are obviously a lot of people here that like math, it then turns into a "get lost" sort of situation.
-
Blah. It's just not important to me yet; I'm noly in 8th grade. I have a couple more things to worry about...
-
I don't like advanced math at all (I have a C in ALG 2 right now).. but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Can't wait to take Precal next year.
-
Sorry, that's not acceptable. If you do not like math, you do not belong here. We are not open to discuss diversity.
-
sorry but if you discuss math problems in your spare time then you really have no life at all.
-
My point exactly..

Heh, Newbie's on the level here. I got a C average in Alg II last semester...
God I wish I coulda just quit math after long division...
-
Nitelthrome, shut up. This is a topic created for the purpose of discussing math. If you don't deem it's existence acceptable, then get out. Go to some other spammy topic, like the continuous story. Believe it or not, there are people in this world that don't fit into your stereotype of liking math. Believe it or not, there are people here actually looking for a discussion, not to spam. eViL is discussing math in his spare time. Who the hell are you to judge what he does with the rest of his time?
No one's forcing you to enter this thread just because you haven't spammed it yet. If you don't like it, then get the hell out.
-
Alright, cya then.
But just like Quad said, people who do math in their spare time seriously do have no life...and Silv, don't reply back with one of your posts where you show of your great skills in using bold and italics.
-
Wow. Good job in contradicting yourself in the same sentence.
people who do math in their spare time seriously do have no life
How can you judge what he does with his life by hearing about his spare time? Yes, that's right. I utilized the forum by typing seven extra characters. I guess I have no life, do I, then? What do you do in your spare time, O Essence of Life?
-

who ever said it was my spare time, people do have homework to do in this world and when you come across something interesting, its always nice to know how and why it works.
-
Wow, then, this is all a misconception.
And Silv, look at the forking web address you're at right now. Then ask me what I do in my spare time.
-
nitel, if u already have other things to worry bout besides math in the 8th grade... man u got a LOOONG road ahead in highschool >_<
