I could have sworn I started a thread like this before, but I couldn't find it anywhere to bump up.
I'm looking for new PS2 games, but I'm dissapointed with the minimal selection that I often find at different places. I'm looking for some type of Action game, and if multiplayer, that woudl rock. Also, a non-turn based RPG title would be good.
Has anyone played Maximo? I don't know if I should get it or not. Any thing you guys could suggest would be greatly appreciated.
-
SOCOM Navy Seals..
Action multiplayer.
-
Do you have to pay to play it?
Anything with like... sword and shield type mutliplayer action would be cool.
I'm gonna look up on Socom real quick.
OH YEAH! Has anyone heard anything about Linux for ps2? They have some beta versions out I think or something, I lost the URL... but I'm just wondering if anyone has any more information on it... That'd be awesome, I could like brows the interweb from my ps2.
-
Its kinda expensive, dude. Ok, the PS2 costs, what, $200? Then the linux kit is.. $200. Then, the PS2 network kit is... $30-40 bucks? So you are spending around $450+ for a 233 mhz computer...
Now, the upside to having it is that it does come with a 40gb HD and a monitor cable to finnaly connect your PS2 to a computer monitor.
Xbox linux is pretty cool. Lets see... Xbox: $200... Mod chip: $20... USB keyboard+Mouse: $30
My neighbor has a slightly broken xbox running Mandrake on it.
-
Darwin.. You have no idea what you are talking about..
You don't need a network kit.. It can plug right into your usb cable modem.
You don't need software.
EDIT: No it isn't P2P.
-
Some USB modems need drivers, even in linux. Like my old Alcatel USB or my new Westell Wirespeed. I couldnt get those to work. And even if I would be able to, it would probably take alot of work for a linux newbie. Thats why its so much simpler to have an ethernet port as an internet gateway. And xbox supplies you with one
-
Cable Modems don't need drivers..
None at all..
-
That cannot be true. Perhaps the one you use right now is supported by your OS, but on an old 98 machine, you would definately need drivers for the device.
-
No Darwin..
Network cards need drivers..
Not modems..
And I've used this modem on win95 before.
-
Windows 95 doesnt support USB without tweaking. (PC gamer)
-
Who said I used USB on win95?
I am just stating that you DON'T need drivers for a cable modem.. It doesn't interact with your system, so you wouldn't need any drivers.
-
It's funny this gets turned into xbos vs p2s again.
VC
GTA2
-
Fine, you know what I can prove you need USB drivers for a modem in order for it to run on the system. I will plug my modem into the USB port of my windows XP laptop with no drivers installed, and it will say "Unknown device." Here we go...
Aha! I knew it! I am right, you lose! Screenshots are comin!
-
Device detected!

doesnt have to be USB... can be connected to ethernet port where it doesnt ask for drivers or anything.... like mine
-
WTF IS ALL THIS? This a thread about Must have PS2 games you dick-sucks. :P
-
Then the NIC needs drivers. Everything needs drivers. End of discussion.

GTA Vice City :P

Ugh, dude, the PS2 does not come with an ethernet port! Thats why I said you need to buy one. And ozzy said that there would be no need, cause he said it does not need USB drivers.
Did you even read the thread?
-
Soo, uh.. what PS2 games are must-haves?
-
GTA III was nice, but I cant say it is a must have, since it DOES get boring after a few hours of play. GTA III Vice City is alot more fun, so you can say it is a must have. But... I cant really think of any more must-haves. You might like Medal of Honor, but thats on Xbox and Gamecube (obviously better on them).
PS2 had kinda a weak E3 lineup, I think. Alot of platformers, again... and your usual assortment of sports games.
-
All ps2 games suck.
After a day of playing both GTA3 and Vice city, I just ended up trying to fly the damn plane in gta3, and in vice city I just went around crashing motorcycles, I was so bored o.o
-
Wow good job.. Your dual connect modem needs drivers. Mine doesn't.
-
Cable Modems don't need drivers..
None at all..
You seemed to mean all cable modems in general, though.
-
Cable modems don't need drivers.. Apparently there are some malarkeyty ones that need them for USB.
-
Well, I got Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 - I plan on taking it back, dont know why I bothered, I might try Midnight Club 2
I also got Harvest Moon: Back To Nature, it's PS1 though, but it made me fall in love with Harvest Moon all over again.
-
I loved Harvest Moon for N64, and it looked even cooler on PS1.
I played the origional Midnight Club. It sucked ass. I dunno if u should bother with the second either.
-
There are some really nice games for PS2.
Not to mention Square is going to stay with Sony.

So far, the N64 version seems like a super watered down version of what's on the PS1. It's weird though, because while they use the same character models or whatever, they're all different people. For example, the mailman in the N64 version, is the mayor's son and the policeman in the PS1 version. Dunno, it's just kind of weird. And you can raise fish and stuff in PS1, and in PS1 I think the field is a little bigger, you have to buy upgrades to your tools (I'm not sure if you can just magically upgrade them like in N64 and other versions), you can get farm help from elf things or something, and I think there are more vegetables and stuff...
-
Also it was in 3D.
-
The PS1 version has the exact same graphics, just a bit more detail on some stuff.
-
No, it is in 3D, the N64 ver isnt.
-
Huh? I own them both... what are you talking about?
In N64 you can rotate cameras and malarkey, you can't in PS1... They both look exactly the same 0_o
Isn't PS1 like 32 bits?
-
N64 ver had like 2D environments. It was more of a pseudo-3d thing it had when u rotated the cam.
Back to nature had more of a 3d environment. Had more 3d objects that you could tell were 3d, even without rotating cam.

sry for crappy size/quality, they are both great games, but back to nature does have better graphics)
-
ROFL, Back To Nature doesn't look THAT good =P
Blow up them pics the same size as the N64 ones.

So take that oh dismisser of old games looking good.
(And now just for an embarrasing moment, I'm sure. You should have been there =D)

P.S. There is a newer version that makes those Q1 shots look even better.
-
Huh? I own them both... what are you talking about?
That N64 version is mine biiatch!
-
But I've been owning it for over a year. ^_^
