Dcty/Ncity and RPGMap1
« on: November 14, 2003 12:53 pm CST »
With time arises problems...

When I'm using rpgmap1, why won't the ncity and dcty dis files load? I added the volumes to the volumes group, and when I select either ncity or dcty, my tribes just closes. The same thing happens if I #spawndis them. Any suggestions...?

By "There" ozzy is refering to your tribes\base folder, not your tribes\RPG folder.  in order for a dis to load in the editor, it must be registered with base tribes.  (not always, but helps for editor stability and what not)

(NOTE: There's more dis files that don't load. All the doors and BBridge....And I bet these aren't the only ones)

Yes, they're all in my base folder, as well as my RPG folder. I really don't know what the problem is. Oh, and please nobody tell me to re-install; I've done it! I fear the only person who could answer this question is JI himself...

No, I read it correctly...

You're talking about all the .dts and .vol files, correct? They are all in my base folder. As well as RegisterUserObjects.cs. Isn't this all you were talking about?

Well, I am running -mod RPG. If I use base, I'm pretty sure it deletes all the mining crystals. I could be wrong, but I've noticed after running base, it, with a few other dis files, are missing...I'll try it anyway though, it couldn't get worse...

nith, the map editor was never designed and built to be run in a modded environment, it was designed to run in base tribes.  if the dis files are missing in the map, its because either they didn't save or because you didn't register them correctly, because all dis files will save and load into the map editor if done correctly.

Well, I think there's something wrong. In my RegisterUseObjects.cs, I have the lines with dcty/ncty, but yet they don't load. I also have all the .dts and .vol files in both my rpg and base folder. I'm so confused on this; I've done exactly what you said, and you perceive me as some newb not doing it right...and that it has to work; I must be wrong. Damn, why won't it just work....bleah
Oh, and it doesn't not just load. It loads the bubble, then crashes...

About the crystals thing...yea, it deletes the crystals when you host it in reg tribes.

missionRegDis(ncty, ncity);
missionRegDis(dcty, dcty);

registerVolume(ncty);
registerVolume(dcty);

try using that setup inside the registerUserObjects.cs file
and make sure you have ncty.vol adn dcty.vol in your base folder.

Well, at this rate, it may be easier for you to learn how to edit the map via .mis file. (It takes longer, but its another way.)

Edit: Nevermind, this won't really help you if you can't get the files loaded into the map. But you still may want to look into it. ITs pretty easy, everything you would need is laid out for you in the file.

For some things, it is a lot easier to just edit it through the .mis.

And you disgust me by what you said about JI..
