Title: Windows 2000 Pro
Post by: MrSpock2002 on June 19, 2004 06:22 pm CDT
Ok, I just installed it on my laptop.  I really like it, and it runs in my opinion much faster than XP Pro, I am thinkin because it doesnt run as much background stuff..  Anyhow, I really would like the shortcut icons background to be clear like XP, not that block of color like 98.. Is this possable?

You could get a major resource eating program like windows blinds. Other than that, no.

You can change the color of the space behind the letters of icons to match the color of your background, so it would appear to be clear.

Right click your desktop, go to properties, and then go to "appearance".  The first option in the drop down box should be something to do with backgrounds or something..  just change the color in the box to the right of that to whatever you want.

I hade a program that could hide the blocks of letters, so only the icon was visible, but I think it might have only been for 98, just google it.

Running windows98se here and all the desktop icons have a transparent background.... as did windows98.

Maybe you are thinking of 95? ;-)

The real point:

Does it work yet?  How did you do it?

I think he means the shortcut text is not transparent, but the icon is.

And yeah, transparent shortcut text on Win2k would be cool. :D
