Is there a program that will get rid of both? is there such a monster or do you have to use multiple programs to address each thing??

First download Ad Aware SE:
http://www.majorgeek.com/esselbachfp.ph ... e94b7b6b55 (http://www.majorgeek.com/esselbachfp.php?in=spyware/aawsepersonal.exe,1095194415O934b535800b1cba8f96a5d72f72f1611df5354693177e83e8ba089e94b7b6b55)

Be sure to upate the program before running it.
Run it
Removal is self explanitory.

Next
If you are on Windows XP
Go to control panel and locate System Restore.  Click System Restore Settings, and disable system restore for all drives:

Restart the machine.  You may go back and re-enable System Restore if you so desire.  I have found many ad-ware trojans hiding in the system volume file that holds the system restore points, so turning system restore off has been quite helpful.

Next
Install Mozilla Firefox.  I find it to be much less vulnerable to spyware than IE.

Ad Aware SE will tell you exactly what spyware/adware you have on your system.

i suggest Spybot - Search and Destory.

if you do a random search for spybot or adware removers, u'll get a list full of false programs. many of which will add more spyware or adware. i've used S&D and it worked nicely.

Google hijackthis

Its a great little tool for spyware.

But be careful with what you choose to delete. You can cause some stuff you like not to work fairly easily.

If your not sure what's what, post the log here and someone will tell you what to get rid of.

Combine Darwin and Hershes ideas.

I have stayed away from S&D because last time I used it, it tried to make me buy it... and I don't buy things listed as "freeware" on downlaoad.com (popular downloads.)

In other news... None of those programs search any of your drives except your host drive (C: in most cases) and thus enable certain spywares to continue existance.

For Example:

I have two run32dll files going.  All I remember is that this particluar spyware uses a lot of memory; sucky, but I cannot get rid of it becuase I cannot find where it is hidden on my other drive...... so I am debating a full format, re-install, etc.  On top of that, it interferes with my CD-Burner, so backing up things is not happeneing either.*sigh* I guess I'll fix it this weekend.

noting on lidges remarks:

rundll and rundll32 are both microsoft windows programs that....run dll's. this is a necessary task to run ur computer. however there is also a virus that refers to itself as this it can go under any of the following names:

W32.Miroot.Worm, W32/Legemer.Worm, W32.HLLW.Sanker, PWSteal.Banpaes.D

otherwise it runs ur dll files when needed. some websites will tell you that windows 2000/xp/2003 all do not have this program but both of my computers have xp and both have had rundll on since we ordered them. If ur not certain that this file is a virus then leave it or u'll create more problems. check to make sure that the root path is C:\Windows\Rundll.exe, if its not it shouldn't be running and you probably have one of the viruses above.

also for a list of spyware and adware removers that are all trustworthy and easily d/led this page has them. even spybot S&D is on there, the true free version, i was never asked to pay on past d/ls of it.

YEah forkin malarkey... sorry for the cussin' but I am extreemley careful before I download and install malarkey... so this has be a bit ticked off... looks like it doesn't much matter anymore anyway.  I miss my firewall router.
:-(

Thanks for the info.  I still cannot find it or remove it... so maybe it's a new variant.  That is pretty common these days.  Either that or an other new crappy virus that does the same garbage.  The insane thing is that I did take files on to my extra drive from a computer I did know to be infected and I did scan them and it did remove the PWstealers... so I'm still thinking it's a new variant.  Crap whatever it is.

I usually am on top of this thing, but I figure our school network is compromised anyway, since I could easily packet sniff anyone in my building (provided I had the software, which I do not, to do so.)  I don't do much of anything that requires a secure connection on here anyway.

Try getting TuneUp or 1-click maintenance (Sped in spelling)

I use Ad-aware for the easy stuff to get rid of, then Spybot S&D for the stuff adaware doesnt pick up on, and I have 1-click and TuneUp as well. Only thing thats ever gotten through is "about: blank"

"about: " is a nasty nasty thing... but theres a program just for it to get rid of it.

Ad-Aware can check all your drives.  Just check your preferences:
