Title: X800
Post by: -eViL- on September 30, 2004 04:01 pm CDT
A few people recently found that the X800 Pro VIVO model is basically an X800 XT with BIOS restrictions. By installing the XT BIOS you get all 16 pipes of the XT! I'm sure the manufacturers might correct this soon, so if you have $400 to throw down on a video card you should definately get one. Note that this only works for the VIVO version and not the standard X800 Pros. The X800 XTs are currently $600-$700.. so this is quite a penny saver.

Dunno if this violates the TOS, sorry if it does, delete it if it does.

This doesn't violate the TOS. It isn't illegal. It is actually good information to have and should be on uberclockers.com

Heh, nice info.

A guy at my work actually bought one of those, I'm sure he'll be glad to hear it.

Very good stuff.  Nvidia has also been restricting the pipes on their 6800 line, but can be enabled through RivaTuner (http://www.olegator.com/softmod/index.html (http://www.olegator.com/softmod/index.html))

I'm not going over to the dark side of Nvidia just yet.  I'm gonna stick around with ATI for one more go-around and see how they fare before I make a Next-Next-generation purpose.
