There is a message board called the Pub for a reason.. So people won't make stupid threads like this! it takes up memory or something  :P.
Anyway, post in the Pub, dont make new threads.

*Fries Particle's processor through a surgical spike*

*hires ex-military spy plane pilots to smash his hard disks*

*sneaks out Particle's ram out of his computer, replaces it with twin sticks of 32 mb ram*

Heh, that reminds me of a funny story.  I have an aunt with a very powerful computer (Gateway 700XL) and it HAD tons of memory, which she would never use.  She only did simple things like surf the net and check email.  So I figured she would never need it.  She at the time had 1 gb of ram.  I took out 2 of the 256 mb sticks of DDR ram, she never noticed.  Man those thumbscrews are great.

The only problem is Parts malarkeyty bandwidth
Title: Re: :P
Post by: Particle on January 17, 2003 01:58 am CST
When your DSL already costs $80/mo, you don't really feel like trying for $150/mo just for tripple your 128kb outgoing bandwidth. Besides, they've already changed packages and refuse to offer us the new package that costs the same with twice the outgoing bandwidth. We're basically paying $10/mo more than it should cost.

128Kbit isn't crappy.  It's just not meant to be a server connection, ok?

The xfury.net network has around 2TB of storage.
Title: Re: :P
Post by: Darwin on January 17, 2003 12:41 pm CST
And how much data is that?  Is a hexabyte the peak of storage capacity?  Or is it a loufabyte?
Title: Re: :P
Post by: Particle on January 17, 2003 02:32 pm CST
Around 2000GB, Darwin.  (2048GB precisely, but my estimate isn't precise)

That's the size of every single stored byte available to the Internet in 1995.

Post by: Darwin on January 17, 2003 06:58 pm CST
So now has taht number grown to, say, 100Tb of storage nowadays?

Probably a lot more than that, Darwin. Anyway, look what you people do to poor Particle's connection:

(That's really compressed.  My view looks better.)

They started the whole "shopping cart" icon for newbies.  It started in beta 4 of CS.

Yeah, and since women love shopping so much, you should play the game Pecker!  Very fun, but I say not as fun as playing TRPG.  I just use it to take a break.  And if trpg frustrates me, I go into the serious sam editor and put a couple hundred monsters in a small space and play with that for awhile.  Mindless mahem = Mindless fun
