i think i'll just vote for a regular nintendo system from way back when, lol, zelda ruled on that system, it was like 20 main lvl's long with 9 inner lvls per main lvl, so that game lasted forever, but it was fun.

xbox - would be better if xbox live didn't cost so much
ps2 - its a playstation mixed with an xbox
ps1 - the original system, although without an internet hook-in, still good

Heheh, PS2 have more, and better games, but Gamecube has all the fun original Nintendo games.. I really wish I had the new Super Smash Bro, and Zelda  *sigh*

Xbox.. they don't have enough games out, and the ones that are out, most of them are being remade for PS2's, the only reason I would ever get an Xbox is for Halo.

I played some Halo... it was cool.

I have both consols. I love Project Gotham Racing, halo, smackdown 3 and a few more...All great games.
Playstation 2 has GTA 3, Vice city, The getaway Metal gear solid and a LOT more great games.

The XBox is the Best machine..FACT..
But the Playstation 2 has a lot more reasons to buy it like games, parts, prices and so on...Both 2 great consols but this argument can/will go on forever.

Very true, Xbox is ALOT bigger.. and has better specs, but the actuall games and gameplay are what really count... and that's where PS2 has Xbox beaten

Also, if you want to watch DVDs on Xbox you have to buy the $30 controller.. but PS2 on the other hand you can just pop a DVD in a watch it.

"This has to be by far the crappiest controller packed with a home console ever. What were they thinking? Over 25% of the surface area on the controller is wasted by a giant green Xbox jewel--you know, in case you forget what system you're playing in between loading screens. You can seriously drop the controller onto a cat from 5 feet and break its back... so I've heard."   http://maddox.xmission.com/xbox_suckit.html (http://maddox.xmission.com/xbox_suckit.html)

I've had both, an Xbox and PS2. My PS2 broke, the DVD ROM inside burned up. My Xbox was boring cuz there wasn't enough games available. The only games I actually liked from the Xbox were Halo, and Morrowind. If I had to choose, it would be PS2. I would rather play PC games, though.

First off, I actually cannot find any ~MUST HAVE~ games for the PS2 BESIDES The GTA3 games, Socom, and a couple others I cannot remember.  Dont get me wrong, I love the GTA3 games, but they would be so much better on the Xbox.  Here are my opinions.

Xbox looks better than a PS2 (the design of the ps2 is very unimaginative)

Memory for the PS2 is both expensive and you get little for your buck. (xbox has an 8 gb hdd)

Xbox has better graphics.

Xbox's DVD plan is actually much better than PS2's if you think about it.  The average user for a PS2 would not buy the PS2's DVD remote, having them use their PS2 control pad to control the DVD.  Here lies the "date factor."  You should get what I mean.

Xbox's online plan is better thought out than Sony's was.  By providing the users with a lag-free gateway to gameplay, players cannot be choked by narrow-band users. (listen, you're gonna have to get broadband at some point pal).

You have you buy a network adaptor to play online with a PS2.

*A plus for PS2 though: you do not have to pay for the service*

Xbox is the only console system that can use Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound IN GAME.  PS2 users are limited to hearing 5.1 surround in FMV's.

Only thing I do not like about online play in console games is that they are not very compelling and quite shallow.

I enjoy my neighbor's gamecube.  It is a fun little system.  I luigi's mansion and metroid prime.  Heh, and there is definately a reason why MP won game of the year at gamespot.com.  But there are a few gripes about the GCN.

Graphic wise, the gamecube's use of textures is childish.  They pull off simple stunts to amuse their audience.  *cough* Zelda: The Windwaker. *cough*

*plus: the controller for the GCN is the most comfortable.  Xbox comes second to me.  PS2 comes third.*      *the ps2 controller is far too outdated, and using it for a FPS is too hard*

Gamecube seems to stumble Online wise.  Offering only the Phantasy Star series as their only multiplayer option, it seems as if Nintendo just didnt really care about online play.  (I mean cmon, even the spec sheets for online play for GCN only provided answers such as N/A and TBD -- quite vague).

They are all fine systems, but I find Xbox to have the actual upper hand when it comes to future games to come.  Halo 2 looks amazing, and GCN and PS2 could never pull that off.

Something I find amusing.  Ubi Soft decided to port Splinter Cell to the PS2.  First response: How the h...........  How could they possibly........  Is it even possib.....
I will be interesting how they try to pull it off.  I imagine it will be like their attempt to port Ghost Recon to the PS2.  It was quite laughable.

But all in all, computer gaming wins.  No matter what.

*edit* (by the way, I just realized how much I just typed, and... Wow)
Xbox's controller is big, I know.  So sorry your puny little hands dont match my big manly hands. Get a controller S-type.

Also, the Xbox's controller is very well thought out.  It has a breakaway cable, so that if you accidentally pull the cable too hard, the cable just pops out, instead of pulling the entire system off where it is sitting.  Try that with your PS2.  In fact, put your cat under it.

The origional Xbox controller is large because it is made to work with the rumble features of the controller.  It is quite hard to explain, but say if a rumble signal was sent to send a vibration sliding from one side of the controller to the next, it would seem more realistic.

ROFL, you would rather play with the Xbox controller than with PS2??

The PS2 cotroller is classic (though it does take time to get used to in a FPS)

And using the controller for a remote on the PS2 isn't all that bad (Though I did buy a remote for only $10)

Some of the must-have games for PS2 are: GTA3 Vice City, Medal of Honor, Virtua Fighter 4, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dark Cloud 2

Medal of Honor can be found on Xbox, and Virtua Fighter 4 is not that great of a game.  Heh ~~WHY AM I SO GREAT!? - Lion: VF4~~

Dead or Alive 3 is king of all fighting games.

The FF series is a turnoff for me, since I cannot stand the complexity of the game.  (I played FF8, I could not even begin to understand the poorly-translated tutorial).

*edit*
Oh, and the PS2 controller is not very ergonomic.

*edit again*
The PS2 controller's cable is very short. Same for GCN.

My manly hands can easily handle the Xbox controller, I'd just rather have a controller that I'm more comfortable with (I guess because I was a big PS1 fan and always have played it).  The Xbox controller on the other hand is more comfortable if you put it on the ground and use it like a keyboard.

I do give the Xbox credit for having much better specs than PS2, and Cube

I was a huge PS1 fan.  I was all like: Boo Nintendo.  I was a true fanboy.  But I was unsatisfied with the quality of the system when a friend of mine got his PS2 system 2 years ago.  He played a football game first for like 20 minutes on Christmas morning, unplugged the PS2, and plugged the DC in its place and began playing a DC football game.  *shrug*

I am thinking that Microsoft has huge plans for the Xbox.  The Xbox is only the beginning of their ultamate entertainment center.  There will definately be addons in the future (hell, you can put a 120 GB HDD in there if you want).

Oh, btw, I got linux on my xbox, for free.  Well, after the modchip, but basicly its free.

*edit*
Only problem I see with the origional Xbox controller is the A X B Y buttons.  They go down into the controller in the shape of a spike, which does something to the thumbs and makes them hurt.  Also the placement of the buttons was pretty much made for halo (which is good) but they were made way too hard.  The controller - S fixes that though.

Yeah.. to tell the truth, I haven't been playing my PS2 much... Online gaming [and PC for that matter] just doesn't compare  (I'm to lazy to get a network adapter)

I say internet gaming for consoles is still in it's infancy stages.  I played Xbox live for a little bit, and it was fun (voice communication was badass) but the gameplay was extremely shallow.  But Ghost Recon was a pretty unreal experience.
