Something I dont understand. Around 10 years ago, my dad would actually buy upgrades for computers at the business he ran (memory of course). But something boggles me about this. He knows jack shizzit about computers. I mean, that experience didnt even lead him to at least learn a little bit about technology.

College is different.
But if you graduate from any HS in the US you should know a little bit about the world or you shouldn't be graduating.
And yes I do know how effective ways of teaching are.. I'm in national honor's society. And I am also a Teacher's Aid.

I'm trying to find the CPU's ceiling at the moment, so memory timings aren't very aggressive. That way it rules out memory-related crashes as much as possible. Once I hit the max, I'll start lowering my timings.
With my Palomino, I could run a 185MHz FSB with 3-2-2-2 timings no problem. I run a PC3500 GeIL Dual-Channel UDL kit in my machine (1GB). It's rated at 6-3-3-2 for PC3500 speeds. People have had it running like 224MHz before with similar timings to that though. It's some high-grade memory--don't let forum junkies BS you out of GeIL.

It doesn't seem to like 2.4GHz very well. It'll boot and I originally thought it was going to work. However, explorer started to crash a lot after a while and it restarted. I raised the vcore to 1.75 and still no go. 0.1v over is about as far as I want to go. Stock voltage is preferable. The AMD tech docs specify 50mv +/-, so I think it's safe to assume 100mv isn't too healthy. It's not that I'm not a very good overclocker, but that I like to find a happy medium some where that won't kill my chip--it has to last a year and I've overclocked so far on chips before that they don't last that long.
I had a 533MHz coppermine celeron that made ~930MHz... it and the board died about 8-10months afterward. It had a golden orb on it. Then I bought an AMD Thunderbird (1200MHz) CPU and it lasted--but it was one stubborn chip and refused to make much more. The next year I bought an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (Palomino); this year a Barton.

Yeah you know I would just run your Barton on safe grounds with default voltage at 2.3. And I also think on the 3000+ they rasied the vcore by .5 to make it a little more stable I believe.
I was thinking of getting one of those Cooler Master ASB-V73 for when I want to get some overclocking, but a Volcano 9 might be pretty good.

You see, 85 fps is displaying 85 constant images within a second. An 85Hz refresh rate means that your monitor blasts your screen with electrons 85 times a second. What this means to you is that since your monitor is NOT on all the time (neither is a light bulb, btw--works on the same principle) and only fires 85 times a second at 85Hz (think of it like an AC waveform) that only 85 changes can occur on a pixel in a second. Thus, you're limited to 85fps because going above would just get discarded. However, even a single frame is being refreshed at 85Hz. For example, playing a 30fps video on a monitor running a 60Hz refresh will actually fire the electron guns with the same frame twice before it changes. Your monitor is flickering. A projector displays an image continuously--unlike your monitor.

If you have enough cooling devices (as well as them being in the right place) inside your computer, then you shouldnt really have problems with your overclocked system. Of course, the chances of these components dying on you earlier than expected is increased, but if you like a few others on this forum upgrade at least once every two years, then you really shouldnt have a problem.

I remember when Blitz ruled over Wolf's server (Forest of Hyrule). One time in Ktown we where talking crap about Blitz, and he tried mugging us.. since his steal flag was up everyone started hitting him. With like 4 people bashing him we eventually lcked him. Then he got pissed off and went into DK armor and #killed us. After that he coded all kinds of malarkey into the server so that you couldn't steal or PK anymore. He even lowered the #bash velocity so much, that a lvl 145's bash was more like a lvl 1000 god's #shove. Soon after the server slowly started dying.. And then one day it was just down for good.

And you are right Darwin, it is important that it ends soon. On October 30th my house got pipe bombed because i live too close to a Protestant Area. But i don't call the FBI when it happens..We call Sein Fein, the spooks people for the IRA and they sort it out. They basicly are the police for the catholics..
My point is..Who does Bush think he is by sending FBI member over to another country to "FIX" a 400 year old problem. I think that says exactly what kind of person he is.
Clinton was a good President, He realy did care about Ireland and the peace process. He used to come over and give speaches, He was about 2 minutes talk from my house were about 50,000 people turned up to see him. He took FBI, but that was only for his own protection

Frankly, I think Celtic is uniquely qualified to speak on the subject Ireland.
Although I think he can be a pain in my ass he has probably seen more hate than most of us can imagine. Dont assume that he is stupid people, because he is not.
Frankly people, why does bush feel the need to single handedly resolve a 400 year old issue that I am sure the only knows about because one of his advisors (with an agenda of his own) told him about it. There must be a way to stop children from being killed but you can TELL people to stop fighting. That is just stupid.
