I remember that Gamespy screenshots before downloading RPG.  Why cant we have cool armors like that?

Because someone re-skinned them all. I think it was LP. He redid the gnolls, Ubers, ogres. There may have been others, but I can't remember. The ubers used to be cute and fuzzy. I miss them.

That map looks quite linear.  Look at how the beaten path moves between the mountains.
