Thats a good idea.. although you could still block it.. but there is nothing you can do about that.. its always going to be able to be blocked.

*edit*

Unless you used Gen's idea.. which wasnt really a bad one..

Hmm... I just got a new idea.

Is there a way to change the script that deploys the tents so that it checks the surface it deploys on and makes sure it's ground?

If we could do that, then tents would not be able to be deployed on any buildings at all and that would negate blocking problems.

Of course... a sleep zone would need to be added to the top of uber then.

Yes, but would they not still be able to camp in console while connecting? You can not deploy a tent in a zone, but people still manage to get by that. Wouldn't it be the same deal with the ground idea?
I still think General's idea would be the most effective.

Indeed Gen's idea would be... it would probably solve the problems with walking in and out of tents on an incline.

Screw it, I say go for harsher punishment for Zone Blocking, if this is really that 'big' of a problem.

Edit: I think being able to walk through a dis has more to do with the  playerarmor then any code you could add to the dis. Maybe though...someone might know better.

hmm... could we use your little "empty" trick on the dis too somehow?  I know I have played tribes maps with walls to walk through, but those were deleted walls that had been re-generated... like the panels on walls in the boradside base.

hmmm.......!

I don't know if it is that "big" of a problem, but it's what I tend to see people complaining about when I do see a problem.  (well, used to as I don't have real time to play anymore)  (Problems went... #shoving off den, #shoving into the ubers, then the tents problem.)

I'd just like to find a solution! :-D

There's nothing wrong about shoving people into Ubers. You should be fighting them head-on to begin with.

You read that out of context silv. :-)

;-)

ie; the players have problems with those things.  That's why I didn't make a thread to try and solve shiving off den or into ubers ;-)

ie; someone is in the server unsavory womaning about being shoved into the ubers or being pushed off the den or getting stuck in the uber tele-in area, and then it's their problem which quickly infests the global speech :-)

No..

Actually the detection of simterrain is probably the best idea.

The only reason people can deploy in zones is because the zonecheck is too slow. Making it any faster would cause too much lag.

With the simterrain, it would be the same as in tribes with turrets. There is no way to get around it..
