As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

It's only for servers.  Clients need not run it (and it will probably kill the client if they do).

Why does everybody think that this is supposed to stop the DoS attack?  That's not even REMOTELY what InfinitePing is designed to do.  The TRPG server HANGS, not CRASHES some times due to crappy coding (mostly on Dynamix's part).  When the window hangs, this program detects it and kills the window so the server can restart and people can play again.  This sort of problem accounts for probably 85-90 percent of downtime on PCRPG and has since near its start.

From manually restarted when I normally say "I had to restart the server" or "I had to cycle the server", yes.  I've got some stuff to work on (it's being a cycle hog) but I think it works.

I've turned it off for a while, while I optimize it and fix a few leaks.  It does work though--be it leaky.

Thanks for the appreciation, heh.  I don't get a lot of it =)

That reminds me... I should update my list of demands of you and your server ;-p hehe.

I don't play trpg any more (may go back in the future) but I'm glad you've been helping our the community and the server for so long, even if I never express it. :-)

Patch for Tribes crashing posted by Plasmatic on 13.10. at 01:50

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This may interest server admins, a fix for 'packet crashing' is being worked on by NoFix.

Here's the Tribalwar Thread.
http://tribalwar.homelan.com/forums/sho ... did=245731
and the website
http://www.3dmax.org/nofix/TribesDoSFix/

Warper and I have been testing this fix, and it seems promising, so far we have been unable to crash it. Unfortunatly I havn't been able to get it working with Infinite spawn, and getting it to run a mod is rather hacky. Blue Sex is running with it now.

The post at Tribalwar is over 20 pages now, with the bulk of posts being either flames or defending.. Not worth reading. NoFix released the first version last Thursday, so I'm guessing its still being worked on.

I kissed a drunk girl on the lips.
This post, by its very length, defends itself against the risk of being read.
