I was a 40/20 Drg/Sam. I didnt have rank 5.

HAHA! than you must have really sucked that that game. Getting Dragoon and Samurai both require to be level 30. Getting to level 30 requires (unless ur a noob) going to Kazham. Going to Kazham requires an airship pass, or the nublet way to get there, getting all 3 keys (mines, Giddeus, and from orcs) and getting just a Kazham airship pass.

However, after level 30 its rather annoying to travel from town to town and so you almost have to have an airship pass. Riding chocobos everywhere would take far too long. Seeing as how expensive things are after about level 25 or so would almost require you to have a craft as a source of income. Having a craft means spending more time at towns. Towns = missions/quests. Plus, there are a lot of items you can only get from missions and quests and so you had to have done at least a few......

what rank did you end up at for level 40?

DO IT!!! i was at bastok trying to mine ALL MORNING and you know the best thing i got was?!?!? SILVER ORE WTF?!?!? and like 1 pack of pickaxes costs me like 3k wtf?!?!?

In order to start in a craft you need a lot of money before hand. (Good crafts, not stupid malarkey)

Goldsmithing takes a malarkey load of money to get started and get it to the point where you're making a profit. Cooking takes like 50k-60k to get to the point to make anything worth selling (Insect Paste)

Dont worry about getting a craft for a while... instead try farming mobs. Go get a signet and kill easier malarkey. Selling crystals and items mobs drop are your best bet.

Sorry I dont have much money I could send you cause i just spent a total of 80k on spells i needed O.o

PS - Fishing is a good craft to get too... you wont make much money yet, but over time you'll make a malarkey load... relatively cheap as well.
