Java -- Bad compatibility with Windows XP Pro?

I had the java thing open(javaw.exe) and I went to bed. I wake up early at about 5 am, and theres a small popup in the bottom right corner. The computer is going incredibly slow. I press ctrl alt delete, and finally 10 mins later, the box comes up. Javaw is taking 100% of the cpu and 200k ram. Anyone know why Java would just randomly fork up?

There is no reason to even have javaw running. That is just an application that manages java applications/applets.
