Door at minos lair?
« on: February 25, 2008 06:37 am CST »
I'd like to know who put this wall up in mino lair? I'm guessing it's rose. Why is the server been locked down for the people that are within range to lvl here? Never before have i seen this happen in any other server. Noobs are like golddust, they get all the new zones, all the rules are designed around them, i'm surprised that anyone over rl 50 hasnt been cleared to make it more comfortable for the noobs.

Some noobs run into these zones where they are safe, and call malarkey out of within the zone to people not able to access the zone.

Call me a hardened oldbie but i've been granted access to the lair for about 6 or 7 years now and to close it off is just bullsh1t. Noone asked the community what they thought of the idea via this forum. All this political correctness has gone too far, Quit trying to get more noobs to play the game and look after the players that have been around forever...

Rant over!

"Oh, unsavory woman, unsavory woman, unsavory woman..." -Abe Simpson

Rose made the zone, I implemented it via Tokath with some edits. It's not a permanent part of the server. If it doesn't work out, I'm sure it can be edited or removed. But I think it'll work out, especially once a 2nd concurrent bot is added to the new mino, because they are higher LVL and will give more exp to the gods. :P

ya i lvled in it because it gave exp. Thats not my point, my point is im sick of you trying to rule this server! And i'm not the only one, maybe i'm just the only one willing to say it to you. You're babying the noobs. What point is there in having an unknown zone if all noobs have to do is teleport to a zone and all the gods are left out of it.

The bottom line here is: noobs have the noobzone that gods or anyone over rl 10 can't get into! That's enough, and probally more than enough. They should have the experience of evading gods and higher rl's by now (even though they'll never learn them skills in pcrpg....)

We are in the process of doing some zone realignments. Not only to benefit the noobs but also benefit the gods. We are also experimenting trying to get a feel for what people do and do not like in the server. We plan on adding a few more zones into the server and maybe getting rid of some others as well. One of the main complaints I here in the server is that gods go afk cause it is boring and they have no challenge. So here is one of our answers to giving you guys a challenge. It is not to protect the noobs. It is there to help the noobs get a chance at leveling and getting decent experience just like you would have as a god. It is also to give gods a chance to level without people complaining that they take all the exp.

It was not just Rose's idea.

We all talked about this from time to time on making new things for the server to better the server. If you have an idea let us know about it. Constructive criticisms is also welcome but if you are going to criticizes give us a reason why it will not work.

I also understand that people will from time to time try and run into the zones and cause trouble with the gods. If that is true then a pk or admin will step in and handle the situation as they see fit.

There are a lot of empty spots on the map. How possible would it be to make use ofthem? I mean there are many holes for mines and on top of mesas and spots like keldrin (course, morphs village spot is claimed though. I would like to see many more zones for added variety and choices.
Would it be possible to make use of these other areas? If it isnt possible to make use of all of them to have many different new zones, how possible would it be to have zones "randomly" phase in? For example, look at the badges. it gives a % every minute ot whatnot to give you luck or gold or whatever the case may be. Would it be possible to have a random % for a zone to phase into existance for a set ammount of time.
Say, the % # comes up, an announcment is made "The lost city or Ozz has phased into this realm". Then say the losty city only stays for 2 hours before an announcement is made "The lost city of Ozz appears to be fading away".
Of course, it could be any # of things. Would that be possible? Would it be possible to have more then one phase in at the same time or would it be better as a one at a time thing?
Of course, these ideas might not be viable. If they arent thats cool cause I am just spouting out.

Actually that is one hell of a good idea...  no different than making a zone just like Morf's village, it can be designed, and coded in as a random event, and even have variety in the different bot loadouts... i have been working on a new bot, similiar to tokath and bromide...  but this bot / dedicated computer would be for just that purpose...  random events / zones and quests...  now the ideas are really starting to get good...  what about prizes / rewards... any ideas?

Been awhile, I should be fixing my computer fairly soon, so expect to see me on.  All these changes and suggested changes has me all excited.  Just feel my nipples!

What's the cap set to at minos?

And Celtic's sick that the people that are set to run the server are trying to run the server?  :headpop:
My job is done here!

The problem with zones that Particle's admins create (and ones that Tokath maintains) is that they aren't "real" zones. If we put them in the unused empty holes in the map, they'd just be out there in the 'unknown' zone, and when leveling there, you would be in "unknown" as well. Bots that get bashed off the map are in unknown too, so every 30 minutes, Zone Diagnostics would kill the bot(s) in your zone.

I've been getting around this problem by piggybacking the new zones inside the spheres of existing zones (eg, n00bzone is in Keldrin Mine's airspace. Demonzone is in Uber Zone's airspace.)

I suppose if you like your location being unknown, having no warning that someone might be sneaking up on you, and being subject to zone diagnostics, then a new zone out there in the boonies wouldn't be a bad idea. lol

Possible but you also have to take into factor what the server can handle.
Lag is also a big factor that you have to consider when spawning zones or making new zones.
