I just hope the DL doesn't make the server pull a Binker's (like after their update--all newbies vanished).

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

As long as its well advertised in the server info (and maybe even in the server name, like it saying "read server info" or something like that), it shouldn't be a problem.  Most people who play on your server have well enough developed minds to get the patch :)

*edit* ohhh I know what you could do!  Make an item called "go to http://www.pcrpg.com for the patch" or something like that, and make sure its the first file that is checked for when someone connects, so if they dont have the patch it will drop them saying they don't have that file!  I think that would work.. wouldn't it?

I see what you're saying.  Make sure it is the first file reported and when you get kicked, it says you're missing something like dl_patch_at_www_pcrpg_org.bmp, right?

I'm going to plaster the loading screen with a link as well as server info.  I don't think it should be too much of a problem, but we'll see.

Finally, we will be able to incorporate a TRPG christmas tree!

Maybe I will come back for a little and try this out. This will be much better than doing just code updates, but rather anything you want you can have now.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

Well, the server can call a remoteEval to check for the file
ex: the client would have this file and send a reply (remoteEval) to the server
