Tribes RPG Obsession
« on: January 26, 2003 01:08 am CST »
If you are like me, you find that Tribes RPG is a very addictive game.  So addictive, to where this addiction can become an obsession and become quite unhealthy for a person.  I notice many players play this game for hours on end, and this is why I wish to share this story with you:

Ok, ok, I know its a little extreme, but it kinda makes you think.

You dont go sit in front of a computer game and shoot yourself if it didnt have something to do with the game.

Perhaps since he played that game so much, he loved the game.  He wanted to see what he loved at the very last moment of his existance.  Think about it, this guy clearly had mental instabilities.  Perhaps he loved the game like his family (he had even refused to let his family in, if you'll notice).  Maybe this says something about how bad his family (including his mother, Liz) was.  Hmm, an interesting angle.

Maybe Sony should sue her for being stupid.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

You have a very, very good point there Particle.  The guy could have been abused by his father/mother as a child, and they refuse to recognize it.  Now that I think about it, the family can definately the ones to point the finger at.

You are damn skippy there.  It was on 20/20, who I find constantly bashing the internet and gaming.  Its just like Dr. Phil, sorta.  Everytime my parents see something bad on TV about AIM, chatrooms (which I dont go to anyway), and games, my life temporarily sucks.

You know that Washington sniper thing?  20/20 blamed the game "Halo" (in the sniper parts) to be an influence on their sniping spree.

I dont believe that the game Everquest in any way told him to kill himself, but the fact that he completely isolated himself to that game was definately a factor for his death.  When I see a person playing the game for more than 6 hours, I think of that guy.

If you believe that a game comes close to real life in any way you already have a mental problem.  Why is it that the "Game" gets blamed for the actions of a few messed up people.
Where were the damn parents?  Did they say "But we couldn't do anything"?  Which is bullsh_t!!
I will always be there for my son!  "I'm Busy" will never be an excuse for me.  My son is the most important thing in my life and if it means that I have to give up time, energy, money, or even a limb, it doesn't matter to me.  If you ask me there is not enough parents involved with their childrens lives.

So do all who see such times, but its not up for them to decide. All you have to decide is what to do with the time you have.

Some that live deserve death, some that die deserve life, but can you give it to them?
