Pardon me, but I think it is you who have assumed so much and not read only what was written.
As a soldier, your point of view is that of the USA military and of the people. This is in reference to when you are on duty, as that is when you are a soldier. When you are off duty you are free to think and have your own opinions and actions and I do not debate that fact. Note that all mentions of you and your military service were in reference to you being in service.
As such you can indeed be against the misuse and abuse of drugs. Using violent and illegal force is not an option, however, and you illustrate it as an option in your post.
As far as the psychiatrist comment goes, it was in relation to the grammar usage in your post. You said:
"You're crying to the wrong person... perhaps your psychiatrist?"
The way this is written suggests that you either think you are her psychiatrist or she shinks you are her psychiatrist. I was only poking a little gest at the misuse of language there, so don't take it to much to heart.
