Join the Folding team!
« on: May 1, 2005 10:15 pm CDT »
It seems I have been the only one running folding@home for the Uberclockers.com community (which Particle started).  Just wondering if anyone is interested.  The team site for us is:

http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main ... mnum=39013

If you dont know what folding@home is, it is a project run by Stanford University where your computer simulates the folding of proteins in order to speed up the process of finding cures for diseases like Parkinsons and the like.

The program runs in the background transparently, and only uses your computer when you are not doing anything.  You wont even notice it is there.  And by doing this, Particle's site (Uberclockers.com) gets more publicity by other tech sites seeing it go up in the ranks!  So please consider downloading this little program on all your computers!

I started back up recently after my system's PSU escapade and forgiving of the Stanford people.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

There's nothing ever wrong but nothing's ever right
Such a cruel contradiction

Might want to just delete that Work Unit.  Most likely there is a supercomputer that has already folded the protein.
