installing the files?
« on: April 25, 2005 11:28 pm CDT »
Ok, I got the package from Particle's site, so I can play the RPG.

Where do I install it?!

I let it do its own thing with the default, and I eneded up with all the files sitting around on my desktop. As you guessed, it didn't work. So... where do they go?

Made a folder called RPG in your Dynamix/Tribes folder, than unpack into there, if it make another RPG folder inside the one you make.. just ctrl-x the one inside the RPG folder you make, go back to the Tribes folder, and ctrl-v over your first RPG folder... sad... I can confuse myself... back, if that doesn't work let me know...

Or you could just do this. When you run the installer you'll see the space where it says: Destination folder. Put C:\Dynamix\Tribes\RPG. Substitute C with whatever the drive letter is that has Tribes on it.

Ok, thanks, that worked. I can play the game now.

How do i keybind? I checked the docs and did what they say, but for instance numpad1 (the key in the right block and top row) does not cast the spell Thorn, in fact it does absolutely nothing.

And why, I ask you, WHY ARE HALF THE LINKS LISTED BROKEN?

The trancephyte site? It doesn't exist. Half the guide pages don't exist. The stupid mines don't seem to exist, and I died from a two-foot drop into the river! [/rant]

This game and mod are over 3 years old.  Hence the links are broken because those people no longer care.

The mines exist, head out of town, follow the dirt trail up the hill to the tree, cross the bridge you see, right up that hill.  Follow the valley for a bit (following trees is your best guide to almost everywhere) until you see a house, look above and to the right of the house and you will see the mines.  Be sure to stick to the right once inside and while under level 8.  (Then you can go explore the mines more freely.)

The information was contained in the installer's startup screen:

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

To run tribes as RPG from the start, add this to the end of the shortcut to tribes.exe

tribes.exe -mod RPG

Oh and to do keybinds, go to http://www.linneberg.com and use cho cho's easy RPG key binder.
