The main entertainment is the jacktard who says...let me get the exact text, "thx fo rthe ip now i can hx u".  Look at the picture.  It's in private IP space.  If the guy tries to do anything to that address, he's likely to mess something up on his own network if he isn't using a 172.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x address :)

It wouldn't be the first time somebody didn't know that 192.168.x.x was private space and wanted to hack somebody at 192.168.0.1...which turned out being him.  The guys in the IRC channel all picked up on this and pretended to help.  =)  Once he "attacked" that address with some sort of delete all files pre-compiled exploit, he suddenly dropped from the IRC channel.

so 192.168.256, etc, are private ip's for home networks? that would explain the whole internal/external ip address thing i see going on whenever I host a game server...

There are a few private spaces.  The entire 10.x.x.x block is private.  You usually see 10.10.x.x for networks using that space.  192.168.x.x is private.  Most people seem to use that one.  Additionally, 172.16.x.x to 172.31.x.x is also private.  Other than that, 127.x.x.x is reserved for lookback addresses and 169.254.x.x is used when your computer automatically assigns itself an address--usually when there is no functioning DHCP server and the node is set to use DHCP.  Both of those are private as well.  I think that's all of the private space.

We used 10.224.9.x back in the day of Hubs.
