You can find this on the pcrpg.org news page, but here it is to save you time:

"Newbie Bug Fixed

That's right!  Today I finally found the source of the newbie bug and squished it.  Apparently, there was a missing ] in one of the new saved fields.  This missing character would cause files to be saved with a line containing syntax errors, throwing the server off on next access.  This field was added in the same patch as the fast-swing fix, so that's why it appeared the fast-swing fix was to blame.  I'll update the server with PCRPG v3.16 momentarily."

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I know what you meant, and I am with you.

There were two reasons to do it:
1)  Fix a bug scaring off newbies.
2)  Stop the complaining--it's not an easy problem to fix (chars).
