CRAP IM DUMB
« on: April 27, 2003 12:54 am CDT »
CRAP!  Just installed SuSu Linux 1.8.  Loved it.  No Problems at all.

I dual booted.  I dual booted, and Im hard headed.  I dual booted, and Im a dumbass, well sometimes.

I resized my partition.
I resized my partition too big.
I resized my partition over Counter Strike.
DAMMIT!

Gotta wait till Friday.
DAMMIT!

Tux Racer and Descent are fun, but...
DAMMIT!

Hmm, I bet I could make that into a poem.

You can dual boot without resizing your existing NTFS partitions.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I used the FAT file system, since I was more familiar with the term.  Oh well, I guess I needed to reformat xp anyway.  It was beginning to drag.

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!

God I think I just made another dumb mistake.  I was using Linux's kword to type up my paper, and I was on the last page (4th page) and then suddenly *POOM* my laptop shuts off.  I gawked at it for a second, then yelled fork!  Turns out that Linux wont alert you when your battery is running low, and it'll just shut off.  Good thing my parents are at the grocery, cause I just went around throwing stuff and yelling fork every 5 seconds.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

That's what I set the language filter to that.  If you'll notice, they're all changed to plain goofy words like:
unsavory woman
fork

Only problem is now I dont know how I can move that file to a windows pc to print it out.  I have tried kword and rich text, and neither work.  I dont want to send it through yahoo mail, cause then all the formatting gets messed up.  Any advice?

does your laptop have a serial port? if not.. how about a docking station? usually laptops arent sold without some way to setup all your office stuff. if not.. whats the file extension? this is why ive stuck with windows despite it being a piece of malarkey... its not a pain in the ass to have to deal with incompatabilities. xp is backwards compatible which is nice, although i think linux is the more stable of the two. my buddy at work uses red hat 9... has our file server set up on linux. i just have windows for games, i dont feel like having to use WINE for everything. anyway.. maybe answers to those questions will shed some light on your problem.

Rich text is readable by Wordpad in Windows (which is packaged together).

[edit]
Or if you want a very early beta version of an office clone I'm working on...

I want it!  Host it tonight!  PLZ!

I think it is stupid how you have to configure EVERYTHING you do in linux, including printing.  I couldnt figure out how to network print like i would when running XP, so I plugged it directly into the printer.  I got it to see it was my printer (easy, it detected it) and I try to print it.  WTF?  PRINTER COMMAND?!  You gotta be freakin kidding me.

Linux is made by people like you and me.  It's going to take a while considering that there isn't an entire fleet of programmers working 9 to 5 for pay making it.

Oh, I thought you meant a beta thing for windows.

There are some very high points of linux, and there are many low, dirty points of linux.

It sure does look cooler than XP ever could.
