Rarex's BVII Revise v3 Mod download
« on: May 23, 2011 02:35 pm CDT »
Hello there fellow tribesmen. This is the client download needed for the Tribes 1 bvii mod. I believe most of you are familiar.

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-LCFcm9gQs

Brief Gameplay footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gSTwOVlxjY

Tribes 1.1/1.3: BVII Full Install Download       Mirror:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0C0OJLBD

Set up your clientprefs/options as always, advanced binds for skill use can be found in bviibinds.cs in the config folder. This install also comes with a BVII vchat menu, which has a list of commands/skills/weapons accessible in game.

Click Tribes.exe, make your player & set your password in the "Other Info" area, and join the BVII server (marked in your favorites)

or

You can download the seperate files for Tribes 1.1/1.30 here

Extract files to your root tribes folder (typically C:\dynamix\tribes).

Set up your player & once again put your desired password in the "Other Info" area

Make sure to find the server "RareX's BVII Revise Version 3", Server IP:: 204.145.237.75:28020

There is also a vchat for bvii in this download, but you will have to execute it manually by either adding "exec(bviichat);" to autoexec.cs, adding "bviichat" as your custom script, or by typing exec(bviichat); in the consol each time you load the game.

Delete force.dts from bvii folder if you are experiencing crashes on either download!

BVII Documentation/Guides Download txt files

When you first connect, make sure to use #say to talk with npc bots in the spawn area. When you reach the top of the spawn area, you will be asked to name the class you want to be. After you have chosen, walk into the wall and you will be teleported to BaseVII, the main headquarters of the map. It will be a base similar to the Char Creation Zone. You can purchase ammo, less advanced weapons & armor, food, and also #sleep in the bedding areas to get rid of your fatigue(Tab, Char Info, AC/Health Stats).

 Once you are down collecting what you need in terms of ammo, med kits, weapons etc, climb to the top, where you will be in a room that has a stone door, but a ladder to the right off it. Go up to the ladder and aim straight up towards the block and jump.

You will teleport to the outer bvii area, where you can find the banker to deposit your coins and valuable items you do not wish to lose when you lose your life. (When you die, you will lose most items you did not have "equipped" at the time of death, so keep that in mind)

Where to begin fighting enemies

Straight outside the BVII base is the "Raider Bridge" zone, where players usually begin leveling and obtaining exp. There are a lot of areas surrounding BVII to level your character. It is easiest to obtain the most exp by partying up (Tab, Party menu) with people your level, but you can work with friends that are higher levels.

There are multiple towns/areas where you can find better weapons and armor to suit your characters level & stats. Venture past the raider bridge, and use #compass town to find the next nearest town that may have what you're looking for.

If another player gets in your way, Tab, click on the player name, and set that player on your target list. They will be warned of your intentions, and have a chance to defend themselves when you attack.

- Classes

Soldier

Soldiers are your basic grunts. They have lots of physical endurance allowing them to take great amounts of damage

Weapons - Machine Guns & Assault Rifles

Difficulty - Low

Doctor

Doctors are a support type class. They excel at medical science & abilities, but are limited in weaponary.

Weapons - Pistols

Difficulty - High

Engineers

Engineers are users of advanced technologies. Notably, engineers have a variety of abilities, such as being able to materialise weapons instead of carrying them. Engineers are a class of close clombat & can manipulate reflective shields to harm attackers.

Weapons - Shotguns & Energy Weapons

Difficulty - Medium

Hitmen

Hitmen are long ranged assassins. They can critically wound enemies or kill them with high damage single shot attacks. One factor that makes life for hitmen ery hard is how expensive long range rifles are.

Weapons - Snipers

Difficulty - High

Criminal

Criminals are masters of travel. They can travel to any place they have been to at any time. They can also bring along companions & others. Criminals engage combat from close to medium ranges.

Weapons - SMGS

Difficulty - Low/Medium

Specialists

Weapons - Melee (misc)

Difficulty - Medium

- Experience

Experience is mainly obtained by killing foes (Players or enemy bots). Doctors can also gain exp through healing heavily wounded players.

When your experience meets your "experience required", you will gain a level which merits you "Skill Points" or "Stat Points" for spending.

Partying up with players around your character level is one of the most efficient/fast ways to gain experience points.
     - To create a party, use the tab menu, create a party by selecting the party option. Then click the desired player's name & invite them to join your party.
     - To join a party, ask for invite from the "party leader". You should receive a message that says you've been invited to join the party. Hit tab, select party options, & join the desired party.

When you die, you lose experience which is added to your "experience pool". As you kill enemies, the pooled experience will return to you as if you never lost it. While you have exp in the pool, you will not obtain exp as effectively as you would if the pool was empty.

Experience bonus adds you much experience you recieve from kills. 1 bonus bonus point as 1% more then exp. "Intelligence" & "buffs" adds to Experience bonus.

Spec experience can be used to create organizations & guilds or structures & zones.

- Skills

Skills allow you to equip better weapons or use special abilities. The command for using skills is #useskill skillname/ Example: #useskill quickheal

   - Binding Skills to keys

Most players use keybinds to use their skills of choice faster & more effectively.

Here is an example of a keybind that uses the skill "bandage":
Code: [Select]
bindCommand(keyboard0, make, "p", TO, "bviibind1();");

function bviibind1()
{
say(0,"#useskill bandage");
}

This binds they key "p" to using bandage. You can open notepad and create a .cs file for your bvii binds, and place the code for your keybinds in there. Be careful not to overwrite binds! (This is why it is preferred to have a seperate 1.1/1.3 config for bvii)

Save the file as "bvbinds.cs" (or your choice of filename)

You can either open "autoexec.cs" and add the line "exec(bviibinds);" or open consol ingame and type "exec(bviibinds);"

Use #w skillname in game to see requirements

Buffs

Buffs allow you to increase many different attributes of your character. You may only have a certain amount of buffs active at a time. Check your max in the player tab menu (1 - 5). Most buffs last from 5 to 10 minutes unless specified otherwise. Some buffs can even be "stacked" on one another. (ex Reflect Shield, Deflect Shield, Damage Shield...)

A brief example of a buff would be the engineer skill "Damage Shield" (#useskill damageshield), which " reflects a decent amount of damage the target takes to the shooter"

You can check the effects of each buff by pressing Tab, Selecting Char Info & then Special Stats. You will see that damage shield added to your "Reflect Shield" stat by 200.
