Christmas
« on: December 12, 2002 05:45 pm CST »
Well, its that time of year again!  Thats right.  The one time of year all teens' (sorry adults) greed skyrockets into the air.  Just wondering, what are you guys asking for Christmas?

*Feels all warm and fuzzy inside*  You have a kid Evil_INC?

Here's what I want, or actually what I will probably get because the other stuff was too extravagent:

Guitar (black)

Dell SmartStep 200N (for good grades actually)

2 Powerline networking kits

Enigmah Xbox mod chip

Xbox to USB (female) converter (for keyboard and mouse for xbox linux)

Splinter Cell (Xbox)
Metal Gear Solid: Substance (Xbox)

Some Docker's spillguard pants and shirts (Those things are sooo cool!)

To Razore:  Lol, looks like we have a GameCube fanboy here lol.  The only game for GC I would want would be Metroid Prime.  That game is l337.  Other than that, screw it.  Phantasy Star Online the only game for online play available?  Forget it.

Pfft, screw powerline.  Anything that uses a lot of amperage will inturrupt it with "noise" on the power line.  Just get 802.11b wireless, 44Mbps indoors.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

802.11b is only 11Mbit max.  You're probably thinking 802.11a, which is much higher but with a shorter range.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

802.11g will be even better (when its out)...

Sorry, but I live in an upstair room above my garage.  I dont want to even attempt a wireless network that far with so many walls in between.  I sometimes wish I lived in New York so that I could get a wireless reciever and steal a T3 connection from an unprotected company.  That would be badass.

If I move to New York ever (which would be like .5% chance) I'll do that and start a server or something.

I know that high amperage devices will interfere, but Im just going to network so that I can extend my connection to my Xbox/linux machine and my future laptop. Even if it gets down to like 2MBPS, thats ok.

Oh and one more thing, I think 802.11a is like 22 mbps.

If you started a server, they'd most likely hate the severe drain on bandwidth and either:
1) Increase bandwidth
2) Start security to keep you out completely

Yeah that's right Part, my bad.  I was thinking b being after a, ahh nm.  But isn't the 44Mbps one both a and b?

Actually, g is a hybrid of the two.

The actual technology is from a and b.
