Mappers/coders/scripters
« on: June 20, 2003 01:06 pm CDT »
Ya know what with Particle, ozzy, eVil, vorter-x, -RPG-secretagnt, and a few others

I am surprised with all the damn knowledge about this game and how much skill you guys have with coding/scripting/mapping blah blah blah,

that particle's server ,doesnt have more than it does,, i know maybe it is better the way it is,,

but with all the code and stuff being tossed around i am surprised we cant walk into a portal and come out on another server, lol

as much as you guys know, i am surprised ya dont all get together  make a game , i mean create one,,, make a few million,,, serious,,

Well, let me explain why.

Tribes' triwsted version of C++ is really simple to pick up and understand.

Real C++ on the other hand.. Well, we just don't know it well enough to do that.. Not to mention we would have ot learn OpenGL code too.

Aside from that, you need to buy licenses. You need a legit version of visual C++, Photoshop, Milkshape or 3DMax. And so on..

It costs a lot of money to make something like that.. It isn't like we could just form a developement team and start working.

Besides.. I'm going to be looking into C# soon... No games have been made with it yet.. Looks interesting.

Wow, I'm flattered that my name is up there. @_@

I have this problem, where I quit large projects halfway through them. =\

And about that portal thing, a girl named Susan made a series of scripts that links servers. You can talk to people on other servers that are linked to that one, and upon stepping on a teleporter, you connect to another server. :D

They were supposed to make a new update to tRPG with all the stuff she and a guy named Robert Olsen did, but I don't think it ever fell through. =\
