the forum.. is kind of dying... probably because its summer.. so i bring to u one of the oldest questions... how was the universe created?

anyways.... just answer the question

Nobody.  We live relatively small amounts of time so actually grasping the concept of eternity is hard to understand.  There was never a first year, but being so heavily based on mathematics like we are we need units and a beginning or at least one point of reference.  The whole BC/AD timeline concept doesn't quite fit either.  There would have to be an infinite year for each.  Our timeline concept isn't infinite either.  We think the universe started at a certain time (which it did) so therefore it didn't always exist either.  The big bang theory doesn't quite make sense since it assumes that whatever started the universe existed forever as well.

That said, I think you might understand why it's hard to grasp "forever".  The way our minds work, we require a point of reference be it for balance, math, or time.

God existed forever.  He made the universe, but that's just my opinion.  (Even though I know I'm right )  Nuff' said as far as I'm concerned.

but you see, if god was around before the universe, and god was around before all of space, then where did god come from?  as particle said, we are kind of stuck on ourselves, and things can't just be "created" from nowhere based up science laws.  so where did god come from is the real question, if someone can PROVE without a doubt that god exists and PROVE without a doubt that he was around before eternity was eternity, then we will finally have our answers.  Whether we decide to accept the answers we get is up to us, but at least we would have the answers.

We're too stupid to be able to prove it.  Nobody trusts accounts from history anyway so God could appear right now to everybody and prove it to them and 50 years in the future it would have a UFO complex about it... few would actually believe it happened.  There are even people who don't think we landed on the moon just because a lot of the photos released were redone in a studio because the actual ones weren't too good.  The whole point is that you have a little bit of trust.  Not everything has to be shown in black and white right in front of your face for you to know.  Do you believe that the electrons move around an atom in the way science dictates?  If so, you're believing because you've been told by others that didn't see it either.  We don't have any imaging equipment that can show things that small.  Even an electron microscope wouldn't provide that kind of magnification... for one thing it uses the very electrons you are trying to see to operate.

Do you believe that Mars exists?  If so, have you ever been there?  You're just believing a picture and word of mouth.  Both could be forged.  After all, we have pictures of Bigfoot and ghosts.  But who's to say they don't exist either?

If I remember right, there's some scientific theory that goes something like this:  It must exist unless it's proven that it can't.  That's not exactly how it goes, but you get the idea.  It's widely accepted by the scientific community as well.

I can't prove it to you.  Of course, I can't prove that the last glass of water you drank contained hydrogen in it and I can't prove that electrons are actually making your screen light up.  You believe what society dictates and it's always been that way.  If it isn't commonly accepted by society then you must be out of your mind, but of course that's what they thought about the light bulb and the crazy contraption known as a sound recorder.

Nah, all that the ball of matter needed was a little nudge, before it began to move through space, accelerating over eons of movement.  I'd say it would be like a lvl 2 #shove

Ugh. These threads are always the same. It will grow over twenty pages, people will keep arguing, no one will be proven right or wrong, no one CAN be proven right or wrong, but everyone is going to try anyways.

But since we're here, I'll tell you all my beliefs:


I don't care how we got here, and I don't care where I'm going. I'm here, and that's all that matters right now. I don't need any super natural outside help with my life, I want to take care of myself, and take care of the person that means so much to me. And if you were to ask me if I believed in a god, I'd tell you, "No, I believe in myself."

So let's just close this thread, save a lot of time/space/matter and whatever else you guys are talking about.

It's just some people have simple minds and do not want to think about all this and think about how they will DIE ALONE.  It's up to the smart people to think for them and protect them.
