[Advisory] Freak Nose Bleed
« on: August 7, 2003 08:50 pm CDT »
It would probably be best if the faint-of-heart leave at this point.

I'm posting this for the people that can take this maturely and perhaps give me some information as to why.

I was just eating lunch and when I was done and had put everything up, I decided to blow my nose.  For some reason (I wasn't even blowing very hard) it just sprung a leak and blood started pouring in streams out of my left nostril.  It hasn't had a history of bleeding or being sore--so I'm not sure why.  Perhaps it was indeed just a "freak" nose bleed.  If not, I would appreciate a possible explanation (perhaps you've heard your doctor talk about it or something).  I'm kinda at a loss here, not that it is really worrying me.  I'm just curious.

I do have a few pictures available on request if it will help diagnosis (only).

If there was a crusty bugger in there, it can cut open the wall of the nose without any problem.

Yeah I took a big one outta my nose and some blood followed with it once.

My sister has an ultra sensitive nose.  If i barely flick her on the nose, itll bleed.

wow the same exact thing happened to me but i didnt try to do anything i just stood up and it gushed out of my nose
i now have a very large blood stain on my white shirt i was wearing...
happened yesterday too
my doctor says it can be because of stress like UG says but i dont recall having any stress might have been just because i stood up really fast
its really wierd it happens to a lot of people everyday even if they dont have a problem

Like I said, I wasn't worried or anything--just wondering what can trigger a spontaneous "gusher".

Hmm.  I guess I'll just have to quit playing with razors.   8)

Thanks for the info guys, I didn't know that.

Particle my nose used to blead a LOT when i was younger, it happend every day about 2-3 times, As darwin says, if you flicked my nose it would pish with blood, It started because i was at boxing training once and my brother caught me clean on the nose and it moved a blood vescell inside and it "wore thin".  Everyone gets a nose blead once or twice a year. But in your case its nothing to worry about at all, it was random, if it happends 2 more times then i woul suggest going to your doctor and he will give you a spray and it will make the vain stronger.  I allmost had to have the vain BURNED off :S

Nose Bleed

Ok Particle this will definately show my age but to help explain why this happened is pretty simple. If where your living is pretty dry right now which its summer time and usually, Then the membrane is more sensitive in the nostril. The drying out process make the nose quite a bit easier to damage blood vessels do to blowing the nose or even a sudden head movement. Nothing to worry about but try a saline nose drop from time to time during hot dry days--God I sound like a gay ass doctor. Kendril--AKA Mike

been taking aspirin? or other blood thinners? noses bleed EASILY but sometimes just a little; so little you wouldnt even know. so with the help of a drug like that they might not clot as well.

particle you owe me, my dad is a doctor and I asked him. Saved you a visit.

But you probably are going to die. I'm sorry.
