Well, that last post was directed more towards Newbie, but if you're really serious about wanting to hear more, I'll be more than happy to post.
For the entire summer, a couple of friends and I, (Bobby, David (newbie), and Devin (icer)), have been planning on going to the beach the last week of the summer. David's parents probably wouldn't have let him go, but he had to go get a tooth pulled or whatever, Devin's girlfriend made him stay (*crack*), and Bob lost all of his money he had.
So it was Monday, and I had told everyone that I had it stuck in my mind that I was going to go to the beach, even if I had to go by myself. Stuff at home has gotten pretty bad lately, and it's been a pretty bad summer all together, (Financial problems, parents split up, a friend's family lives at my house, etc etc etc..) so it was an absolute MUST that I get away.
I was within 20 minutes of leaving by myself, when Bob came over, and decided that he'd go with me. We went to Bilo, got tons of canned drinks, and three cases of Ramen Noodles. (mmmm)
The drive there was awesome. Never in my life have I appreciated looking at open fields of nothingness, but this was great. Everything on the way there was new, different, and the sun was kinda going down, it was awesome. Instant stress reliever right there.
So we arrive at the beach at about 7 PM. Newbie's family had stayed at this one campground called "Pirate Land". Bob and I pulled up to that place, and some crinkly old guy told us it was for families only. I'm SO glad they didn't let us go in there, because it looked gay as hell. So Bob and I went down to a Public Access part of the beach, and hung out there.
Bob dug some hole the whole night, and I was sitting in the sand, smoking a sweet, sweet Black and Mild. Then we thought we were going to just sleep in the car at the Wal Mart parking lot all night, so we went to Wal Mart. While I was there, I got these comfortable ass chairs that had leg rests and everything. We decided that we'd be more likely to get murdered sleeping at Wal Mart, so we went back to the Public Beach access thing. We cooked a pot of Ramen Noodles on a propane stove I had bought a few days before, then I think we just sat around for a while... don't really remember.
Sleeping in the car was the worst thing ever. It was SO hot, SO uncomfortable, and I woke up at EVERY SINGLE NOISE that went by the car. I was sleeping in my boxers, and it probable looked funny seeing two guys in one car that was steaming up and all that. But whatever. We get out of the car at about 7:30 in the morning, and I was tired as hell, so I took one of those chairs onto the beach, and fell asleep for about 3 hours. When I woke up, I was slightly burnt but not bad, and Bob and I went to McDonalds for a couple of McChickens, then to Wal Mart to get a tent and some sun screen lotion. Taxes in SC are crazy, they had a Dine In tax, a Carry Out tax, and water wasn't free like it is in most places in NC.
Bob and I decided to go see what the deal was with camping at the State Park, because there was no way in hell I was sleeping in that car again, I dont think my body could have handled it. (My arm was SO sore that day from sleeping in the car, I slept in awkward positions.)
So we get to the State Park, and I just pulled the chair out again, and slept on the beach for about another 2 hours, then I got out and changed into my swimming shorts, and just kinda floated around in the ocean for a while. Then, I got out after about 45 minutes, and slept in the chairs for the bulk of the rest of the day.
Bob and I woke up at about 4 PM, and went up to the car to get our propane stove so we could cook some Ramens. We were cooking our ramens in this kinda picnic area, but no one was around. Then a couple of cool old black guys from NY came up with their food, and we kinda talked to them. Finally, one of they, said "What are you guys cooking?" We told them Ramen Noodles, and he was like "OH fork NO, HEEEEELLLL NO, YOU GUYS ARE GONNA COME OVER HERE AND GET SOME REAL FOOD, WE'RE NOT GONNA LET YOU EAT NONE OF THAT NOODLE malarkey!" So Bob and I went over, had some handburgers and stuff, it was great. We talked to them for a while about finding the one woman that will change your life and everything... I forgot why we started talking about it.
After all that, we decided we'd go see what all was around town, so we drove down Ocean Blvd blasting Deftones from my car. I remembered a kinda half girlfriend of mine (our relationship has always kinda been weird, I'll describe it later or insert it here when the time comes or whatever...) was living at Myrtle Beach for the summer because her dad was building a beach house for her mom. So I called the number that Abby gave to me at the end of the school year, and we just lucked out that she happened to still be staying there, and she hasn't gone back to Charlotte yet. So we get directions to her house, and we kinda misunderstood what her dad was saying, so we wound up going 25 miles out of the way down 22 West. We realized that we were getting far from the beach, and so we turned around. Then we just did what we did the way we came here, just followed the signs with arrows. Turns out, we were only about 10 minutes from her house from where we called, but her Dad had told us that we were about 45 minutes away. So we found the place, we talked to her dad for a while, then we went out walking on the beach. Abby and I were holding hands, and Bob was just kinda a few feet away by himself. (He was by himself most of the trip, because I slept a lot that second day, and he just kinda walked around looking for seashells.) When we got back to her house, we watched Oh Brother, Where Art Thou, because I had never seen it before. The whole movie Abby and I were kinda secretly playing with each others hands, because her dad was just across the room, and he would have killed me if he saw it. Kinda funny, really.
Bob and I go back to the camp ground, he goes to shower and use the bathroom, and he said he'll set up the tent that we bought earlier that day, and cook some Ramens. I went out and sat on the beach for a few hours that night. (When we got back from Abby's it was about 12:30 AM).
We woke up the next morning at about 9:30, and felt fully rested. MUCH better than sleeping in that damn car. So we checked out, and went back to Abby's house. When we got there, she cooked Bob some breakfast, and made me some coffee, it was soooo sweet of her to do that. After all that, her dad let Bob drive the Bobcat (a piece of construction equipment) all around in the front yard. I told her dad that that right there made his entire trip worth while. He taught him how to smooth out the dirt, pick up logs without getting dirt into the bucket, etc. After all that, Bob, Abby and I went down to the beach. Bob started digging another hole, and Abby and I walked down the beach holding hands and stuff again. Then we went out in the ocean, and held each other and talked and messed around and had all sorts of fun. It had some weird Final Fantasyish element to it all. We get out of the water, because we were getting really wrinkly and cold, and we went and layed together in a tidal pool that has been heated by the sun all day. We look up about 30 minutes later to see her dad walking down the beach, searching the ocean to see if he could find us, so we quickly got up and went over to him before he saw us laying togther. He tells us it was about 5:00 PM. We had gotten to the beach at about 11, and we realized that we were in the water for a good 6 and a half hours, not one and a half like we had thought. Abby says that she was hungry, so I took her out to lunch. Her dad gave us a list of stuff to pick up and stuff, so we went to Wal Mart, and I payed for their groceries too, because they had fed my friend breakfast this morning and stuff.
After Abby and I got back from having lunch or dinner or whatever, we walked as far as we could down the beach again, and she was begging me not to leave and malarkey, but I had to, because Bob's mom said he had to come back to go to work. It's insane, Bob is 18, not living with his mom, but he's still taking bull malarkey orders from her. So we had to leave later that night.
Abby and I got back from our walk, and she insisted to keep rubbing some stuff all over me, she was like obsessed with rubbing that lotion on me, rofl. We watched a little bit of another movie, and then Bob and I decided we should get going. It was about 8 that we left.
I wish I could have stayed at least one more night. It was the last night that the moon would be full, we were leaving right at sunset, it was terrible. I SO bad wanted to stay. I was only 10 minutes down the road, Bob had already fallen asleep. We were going down the highway, the sun was setting, it was really pretty, but I so much just wanted to stay with Abby and be at the beach, but I couldn't. It almost made me cry. ;_;
So we get back to the house later that night, and I go to sleep and stuff.. blah blah here I am now. I missed out a lot of what I'd say important conversation pieces, but not on purpous, maybe I'll post some more stuff next time. But I truely did have a good time, and I plan on going another week or two from now, because Abby will be there every weekend, and I LOVE the beach SOOO much...
Gah, I feel like I left out so much. Maybe I'll go back in and edit some stuff, but I dont have time right now, sorry. >_<
