ahem... YOU have 3dsmax 2.5?
Is it ripped or is it the real version? I would like a copy if possible. I really really would like to make models for specific things in tribes1/trpg, but I cannot because I don't have max2.5. I do, however, have the required plugin which will allow exportation of MAXShapes to the proper Tribes format.
ANyhow... the link hersh gave is to my FAQ on the subject. There is a whole lot of information on using matilda.exe and what exactly it does.
To make a .dis shape you need one or the other of the following combinations:
1- TribesTools Pack
- contains Matilda.exe, Zed.exe, Volume programs... BMP to PBMP converters
OR
2- World Craft (or Hammer, or whatever valve is calling it these days)
- the TPGG textures.wad file... which I attempted to make, but my Wally went to hell on my and I haven't had serious time to fgure out exactly what I did wrong since then. I think there is a .wad of that stuff floating around someplace though.. :-D
I personally use ZED as I understand exactly what it does, as Dynamix released the tools for tribes only! heh. So I can't get confused with file types or exporters or any of that crap. :-)
Anyhow...
ZED makes your dis's. I have a download of the materials list of all of the tribes textures in the TRPG mod... but you may need that .vol to use your dis once it's made (I forget... it's been a looong time) My site has a FAQ area about how to use this.
Matilda(2?).exe Makes your Dynamix Material List (DML) file for your Texture .vol Volume file. IT IS VERY TOUCHY! ! ! You'll need to follow the directions on using it to a T, or never get it to work at all! (I know.. I struggled for a week before breaking down and asking... turns out it has a special little illogically occuring bug.) My site has a FAQ area about how to use this too.
WC (worldcraft) makes yoour dis's as an alternative to using ZED. It's pretty easy from what I hear and there are a LOT of FAQ's about it.
WALLY makes your .wad files which contain all of your textures to be used with WorldCraft. It's also apparently easy to use (by most people) but I being from the days of simplicity and DOS have a time trying to make it do exactly what I want. :-) There are also a lot of helpful things on their site (forget the link... goole it!) to get you going with it.
GOODLUCK! ! ! :-D
