Dynamix didn't bail. They were fired. There's a difference dude...
Yes I know they were 'fired' as you put it, but they could have continued making the Tribes series with Garage Games.
Ok, this is what happened, and why:
1. Sierra bought a company called Dynamix and purchased copyrights for all of Dynamixs games (Past, present and future).
2. Dynamix started building a game called Tribes 2.
3. Sierra said "Release the game before it is done or e will fire you".
4. Dynamix released the unfinished version of Tribes 2 to the public.
5. Sierra said "Ok, the game doesn't work right, fix it or die".
6. Dynamix starts working on the various patches for Tribes 2 to fix all of the bugs in the game.
7. Tribes 2 works ok enough now for people to have fun playing.
8. Sierra decides that Dynamix is costing them more money then it is making.
8. Sierra FIRES most of the Dynamix employees
9. A few Dynamix employees got together and made Garage Games.
Notice how Sierra didn't sell the copyright for the Tribes series to Garage Games? The fact is that if Garage Games didn't, doesn't and probably never will own a copyright in relation to Tribes. As such, they cannot do anything for, with, or against it, unless they want to get sued by Sierra.
So for the last time, stop pointing your finger at the pawns, and point it at the money driven machine that forced them to move.
