The USB ports on my A7N8X shot the crap two weeks ago.  I bought a new USB 2.0 add-in card and everything works fine.  My printer, webcam, and flash card reader work fine on my built-in ports, but if I plugged in my mouse BOOM, no go.  My mouse worked using a USB to PS/2 adapter and with the add-in card, but not with the integrated ports.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

The one of the USB plastic holders that hold the brass tongs broke off my Dell laptop not long after it got it.  That means i had to be extra careful when putting a device in that port.  Sometimes when i would just touch metal to one of the tongs, the comp would go *quote* "BOOM" and would shut off immediately, lose all power.  Wont turn off for another 5 minutes.

I get a replacemetn motherboard, which also replaced the USB ports.  Three days ago the plastic thing broke off AGAIN.  Dell makes the most malarkey i have ever seen.

It is like a 3rd party laptop, which isnt widely supported.  Dell should make support for all their products.  Dell Smartstep 200n if you are wondering.

secure that pactic in there with a fabricated part of your own... and maybe some cement... though I think that might void the warranty? :-/

Ive already voided the warranty, even though it was only a 90 day warranty.  I dropped the sucker, broke the motherboard.  Got it repaired.  I got scratches on the cover (my god, its cheap plastic! im gonna use a metal finish on it one day).  I'll just get me a usb hub OR get me a usb 2.0 card for the pc card slot.  Will both a usb 2.0 card AND a wifi card fit in both slots one on top of the other?  Its a two-slot deal.

Depends on the type of the cards. (eg. Type I, Type II, or Type III PCMCIA cards)

I've never had a problem with any of my Dells. I love them. Oh, and they do have support for all of their products, including yours.
