Help on my Senior Exit Project?
« on: September 10, 2003 10:38 pm CDT »
I need help with a thesis statement, and if anyone could help me think of one, or tell me what they think I'd be able to find the most information on.. then yeah please suggest.

I was originally going with "File sharing and internet piracy doesn't significantly affect the music industry" - but I just read that CD sales are down 57% since june... Then I was going to do something about the government invading privacy, and use the TCPAA thing or whatever as an example, and maybe some more, but I wasn't too sure if I'd find enough information on that. (I guess I could do something abou airport security there too..)

Anyways, it can be any topic, any subject, as long as it's something I can prove. (Or give enough supporting evidence, you know what I mean.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. =\

I would go with the TCPA mainly because not enough people know about it, and it would spread the word around.. Just me.

Do a project about how Dave Thomas has contributed to the community :D

Or, uh.. do it on Ninjas! Yeah!

Dunno.. If sales are down by 57%, then do a project on how internet piracy does hurt the music industry. Maybe just do your project on how piracy hurts the game, music, and movie industry as well.

With a falling economy, you can't blame that on the people pirating.

I remember back in my middle school days kids would talk about how they where going to Walmart to buy the new CD of "Whoever" after school because they liked the song they heard on the radio.

I don't hear that any more.. Now when someone hears somthing they like on the radio they run home and jump on Kazaa to download it.

What I don't get is, why do they even like it? Half the stuff they play on the radio is crap anyways..

Yeah radio went to the dogs after they took off the modern/GenX rock station and replaced it with a forking pop rock station over here.

I went to buy a CD for a girl a couple weeks ago.  It was friggin 20 bucks.  20 BUCKS!  That price for a CD is outrageous.  They are scaring off customers like this!

Well, for those of you too young to remember *pulls out grandpa pipe and takes a puff, reclining and putting feet on the foot rest next to the fireplace wearing a fancy red robe with black trim* the music industry made a deal to deliver CDs at a price of around $12-15 instead of $20.  I forget the *wheeze* specifics, but the point is that they didn't keep to what they said they would.  Granted, it wasn't a legal contract or anything, but that shows the character of the industry as a whole.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Write a paper over Corporate and Goverment ownership of media companies, namely MSNBC. The fact is that media is a controled propaganda. There are no major liberal media corporations and very few reporters. Wolf Blitzer is about about as crticizing as you can get. Government allows minor critism of its-self, to look better. Most editors won't print anything too strongly against them.
When you see ABC New reports testing products, 90% of them time the owner of the best products are sponsers for the network.
Other problems with this are that Media isn't always covered closesly, facts are "softened" before being released to the public. Read another countries articles about the US, like Europe's, they are much more critcal than you would come close to here. Heh, a vast majority of the media we get is biased and censored.  :?

Theres alot more about it, this is probably going to be my senior paper...If I think of a good link I'll refer you.
