I never played GSN or UGB.
I first came around in the days of Psy2000, Psy2k, TVT, etc. I played on some server until about level 20, when it disappeared. I then moved onto TVT (not sure if that's right) because the people on Psy2000/Psy2k were all jackasses. After getting to about level 99 (you all know very well it takes a long time your first go around) the server shutdown. It was truely a good server though. I hung around with the admins in the uber zone (even though I was RL0) and we had a good time. They wern't corrupt and didn't spoil my character, either.
I then moved onto GRD3 Smokin' and leveled up to about level 99 when it shut down. At this point, I'd never remorted. I made a lot of friends on GRD3 like Triton, Bane, Pyro(something), and the rest. They were a good lot of people and we leveled in the Minotaur's Lair together.
After the character clear on GRD3, most people left (including me--still never having had a remort). I made a temp server for I think Bane and myself called "Screw Around RPG" where we made Stella_Blue bots and killed them. (Stella_Blue was the owner of GRD3) I was going to shut it down, but I noticed some newbies had actually started playing regularly, and I'd feel bad making them lose all of the work they'd put in.
At this point, I was still hosting the server on my main machine and at home. We had a 4-person limit and some good times. The server was surprisingly full a lot of the time. Of course, I was still playing regularly as an admin. As all admins know, infinite power gets old fast. I probably played regularly and conducted quests for about a long time, however. We had an awesome arena (back when the server reset like once a week), which the Blitz Arena is basically a copy of. I also had a neat race quest (that mine one that I later remade).
After some time, I decided to ask for a server forum. I thought that the server should probably be renamed first, though. UG agreed and we came up with "Particle's Custom RPG" after about a dozen really bad ones. Soon after, everything began to flower out. I moved the server to its own dedicated machine (it was sucking up too much CPU on mine, and this allowed for greater uptime) with an 8-player limit. After a long time, I eventually hooked up with IronMaiden (when I was going to have to shut down the server due to it sucking up all the bandwidth) who allowed me to host remotely using one of his servers. This man truely was a blessing... talk about timing.
The player limit jumped from 20 to 24 to 30--where it remains today.
I know I didn't mean to give a server history, but it falls under my own as well ya know.
