Actually, there is a difference between our real life courts and this game.
When a person is killed in-game, the person does not die in real life. When a person dies in real life, they die in real life.
When a person is mugged of everything they own in the game, they can still eat and feed thier family in real life. When mugged of everything they own in real life, The cannot feed thier family in real life.
The list goes on and on.
Also, in real life, the police undergo a rigoroustraining regimen and psychological testing to be sure they will not abuse thier power.
Here, we have already seen that this is not the case.
We have had RL 300+ characters who were worse than the criminals when it came to pking them and mugging and shove killing and so foorth and this player claimed to be a "policeman". True, this can happen in real life, but those are in the minority. We have also seen where if a person pisses off someone in power, they will automatically be free game for every criminal on the server because no one will protect them. This is due to the human element and is hardly "fair".
Then again, we already ARE relying on "code" or machines in our courts in real life. You get speeding tickets on the basis of cameras and the same for running stoplights. You see survalence cameras everywhere you go. Were it possible, the government would have them send the tickets and all out automatically.
If you simply do not like the idea of a non-human enforcing things or if you or your friends regulerly break the rules and just dont want to have to go through having to follow them as well, that is understandable. If the former, you may set it on "lax" where there is a % of it enforcing a broken rule rather than automatically doeing it. Sorta like the percentages when you swing at an enemy bot. If it is the latter, than you will still disagree on having it.

You may disagree with me in wanting code to automatically enforce some of the rules. That is your right and as an admin, your voice carries farther than a single player. I do not doubt that or dispute that. I am just stating my humble opinion.
This is not trying to take away any of your power or respect ozzy, it is an effort to make your job easier so you have more time to have more fun and help others in more fun ways on the server rather than you having to listen to everyones unsavory womaning whenever you come on. Youd still hear it but just not as much.

Cool deal. we need a non thinking  piece of code to enforce the rules. That way, it will be totally fair and unbiased so no one will need to worry about getting "screwed" and the weaker players would be safe from depredations of others. The thinking part is needed for scripting and quests and so forth.

Do you know how much "code" this would require?  Think of each and every exception to the rule..  such as if you PK 3 times, and then get PKed yourself, you can PK that person again, etc..  of course the code is possible but definately not worth the time.  I think Particle has admins/PKs to handle that o_o

Depends on who you are. To me (who is a complete idiot at coding) it would be nigh on impossible. To those here who can code (and have claimed to be able to do this as well as having done far harder), it would be a matter of minutes.
However, even if by some chance they arent up to the task, its no big deal. This is only a game after all. There would be no reason for us to complain if they dont do it just as there is no reason to continue belittling us who support it. (Last, I know you arent belittling us but it is showing in the attitudes of others)

Well, originally there were no rules on PCRPG.  That didn't work too well, since for some reason the higher my player limit, the more assholes seemed to flock to the server.  Then there were simple rules (three I think) that helped, but they ultimately wern't enough.  I eventually got sick of all the complaining and drafted my 9-page version.  Things did quiet down for a while, believe it or not.

After the clear, most of the people that complained left.  I rarely get emails in Abuse, Transfers, Restore, etc

Before, I'd get at least one a day.  Hmm, connection?

Overall, I'd say these rules have been a good thing.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I'm not belittling anyone--we just don't have anyone to enforce rules on the server.  Xanth, a peacekeeper, is rarely on anymore--now that I don't have admin anymore I can't do a thing about it.

By the way, I caught "goose" and someone named "one" power ranking on a level 80something person.  I can't remember who it was, but I couldn't do anything about it other than kill them both =x  Goose dropped right when he noticed that I saw him doing it.  Then, he tried to act like he wasn't the person on the power-rankee character, but I called him out and he confessed.

IF the server were to have 4 peacekeepers though... Players who were on often, and were in different time zones (Or at least played at different times of the day) then there wouldn't be a chance for people to break the rules.

To many pks and admins is to many old woman in the kitchen trying to cook. A code would not work because it in its self is biast. Why? Because the person who is makeing it unknowingly will most likely make the way they would do things. thus it because biast with out even haveing to think. things are fine the way they are. sometimes change is good but in this case it is not.

INC, I will say this once, quit referring to this person. He hasn't said a word about you and yet you keep bringing up things from the past. Drop it, now.
