I don't mind steam..

What pisses me off is the fact the CS team is going to be selfish and not allow anyone to play 1.5 or earlier online anymore.

We need to go back to 1.3

Steam can die.  It doesn't even run right on my machine.  Steam 1 can't even run, and Steam 2's authentication keeps getting fudged.  They're doing this just because in the years that they've had Steam, very few people have shown an interest in the technology.  What better way to force people to use it than destroy your own popular game, ya know?  Sure, most will move to Steam (as I figure I will) but many will leave--those I applaud.  I hope HL2 isn't littered with the crap known as Steam.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I bet you 10 to 1 that HL2 (with Multiplayer package) will have some sort of Steam implementation.  I couldn't stand Steam when I beta tested CS 1.5 and so now the only way that I can play it is through Steam?

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

It seems that all HL mods, files, and updates, along with any other product ValVe releases, will be downloaded through Steam.

There are a few points that I do like about 1.6 on steam though.  Getting into a game of CS seems faster, and I like the server menu.  Getting out of the game is also 10x quicker than 1.5 (All I have to do is press esc then click Quit Game without having to go back to the main menu to exit.  Nice.

There are some good and bad points the the riot shield.  I think its cool how you can stay behind the shield, line up a headshot, then pop one into the guy's skull.  Its got its good and bad points.  Its nice and tactical.  So I say keep it.

I say away with the new guns.  The famas and the other T gun are freakin weak.

Darwin.. All you had to do was type quit or exit in console.

It isn't faster.. If anything it is slower. They made it this way for their pice of malarkey ads.

The riot shield is fine on pubs, but in an organized clan match? It isn't right.

Im starting to like steam actually.  Dang.  I kinda take it back.  Yeah, its slower.  But it doesnt lag down on my machine or anything.  The only thing that really pissed me off was doing a whole lot of clicking just to get into one game then stare at a very ugly splash screen.

60%  love goes to Steam so far...

How about you guys find a new game to play? I'm suprised that malarkeyty game known as CS isn't terribly out dated by now. (As it should be.)

Ok forget the part I said about the shield.  Its gay as hell.  Look at this.  Its aimed right at his body, but no hits.  Just bouncing off him.

Eh, there are different types of games. I find Battlefield 1942 and Tribes as different as a fighting game and an RPG. The fighting game, as with Battlefield 1942, are cool at first, but there's no way you could ever put as much time into a fighting game as you could an RPG. It's the same with Tribes. I've been playing for four years, and I still love it to death.

Try telling me that when Quake 1 first came out.  I played it for about 30+ hours a week.  When AC2 rolled around, I played it for maybe 4 hours a week.
