Do you believe that students in public schools have an equal opportunity for success? Why?
Everyone has a chance to succeed, just some arent given a chance as well as others. A private school student most likely has a better chance at prosperity since employers would rather have people who had private education.
Which method do you think is better for a child overall? Public schooling, or home schooling? Why?
I am torn in this decision. Home schooling is good, since the child can best relate to the parent, and have a less stressful environment. On the other hand, the child can develop social problems by not being around other children.
On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the public school system. (Please pick one)
2-Fairly poor -- (my mom works in the system, its horrible)
Do you believe that High school is essential for a child to become successful in the future?
Yes, just so as the child is willing to use this chance at education to his/her advantage.
If you could make changes to better improve education, what would it be, and why?
A more hands-on education is always best for educational development. I have seen a school that used a cubicle environment (not a crappy Office space type thing, but really nice translucent glass w/ incandescent lighting) where students would sit in comfortable chairs around a teacher w/ a laptop. There the students would work together to solve problems. Participation was at peak, it was amazing.
Also, debating issues in class is always a good idea. I learned more in my Sophomore Religion class than I have in any other class ever because we would debate issues all the time.
