This is what I posted elsewhere... and since general got in a huff about the other thread, I started this one in an attempt to revive the thought before it degenerated into meaninglessness. Hence, there is a description of my thoughts about this movie.
hmm...
I thought it was great how every time a Japanese character died, blood sprayed everywhere like an insane anime cartoon death.
I thought it had a very good musical track/score.
The fight scenes were pretty good too
Over all, I got the distinct feel from in the middle area of the movie and the anime part, that the director is a heroine addict... or at least... has been on herion.. of has been severely mind altered in that way, both the during use and post use effects. But of course people say I haven't done heroin, so I wouldn't know anything about it's feelings of effects to them.
Anyhow, I overall enjoyed the flick, though he really had only one part I didn't like; when our yellow haired warrior is getting into the pussy wagon from the chair the music cuts out with a "removed needle from the record" kind of sound to it, but the actual camera cut and mood change of the shot is off on the precises moments, and the track that was playing ended in the middle of a bunch of notes that were increasing in power very abruptly. I can see it was intentional, but it set up the next 2 minutes of staring at feet to be quite boring. I think that the track was a bit too hollywood power action movie music sounding for such a quick "record needle" cut. But hey... it might just be me.
I am also glad he decided to cut the movie to 2 pieces. The first ended at a spot where it doesn't give much about the next part, but it makes you want to see the next part for the rest of the insane story.
Pretty good movie.

In the end... I must say that though it was good in QT's own right, it's not nearly up to par with Res Dogs or Pulp Ficition... though those weren't mostly action movies, and this one was.
I would say that for an action movie, it was better than any other action movie I have seen, both in its satire and in it's seriousness. ;-)
