He's commenting on his RAM usage and optimizations he uses to reduce his runtime RAM. You have no place to judge other's posts on quality and relevance, Vorter.

Well lets see, I found a way to easily get 100+mb of runtime ram and my computer clock speed hits 3.3ghz for a brief second.

If you got windows xp, i recommend this program: http://www.totalidea.com/frameset-tweakxp.htm

*edit*
And I think it would be nice if anybody would like to share a hardware tweak of their own.  Here's a nice boot tip:

Boot XP faster

1. Open notepad.exe, type "del c:\windows\prefetch\ntosboot-*.* /q" (without the quotes) & save as "ntosboot.bat" in c:\
2. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "gpedit.msc".
3. Double click "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration" and double click again on "Shutdown" in the right window.
4. In the new window, click "add", "Browse", locate your "ntosboot.bat" file & click "Open".
5. Click "OK", "Apply" & "OK" once again to exit.
6. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "devmgmt.msc".
7. Double click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
8. Right click on "Primary IDE Channel" and select "Properties".
9. Select the "Advanced Settings" tab then on the device 0 or 1 that doesn't have 'device type' greyed out select 'none' instead of 'autodetect' & click "OK".
10. Right click on "Secondary IDE channel", select "Properties" and repeat step 9.
11. Reboot your computer.

You wont have to wait but more than a couple seconds looking at the Windows XP boot load.

Ohh and try this one on for size:

Don't use swap file unless really needed

For Users with 256 MB RAM or more this tweak will boost their Windows - and Game-Performance.
What it does: It tells Windows not to use any Swap File until there is really no more free RAM left.

Open the System Configuration Utility by typing msconfig.exe in the RUN command. There in your System.ini you have to add "ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1" under the 386enh section.

You know, the point of RAM is to use it.  I never understand why people want to "free RAM up".  Just buy another 256 or 512 and then allow windows to both cache as much as possible and have spare RAM for your apps.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Which brings me to my point.

If you don't know exactly how RAM works, and how to use the smallest amount possible, don't EVER think about considering learning a programming language

*cough* Dynamix

*cough* Valve

*cough* JI

Oh, and why I posted this? I'm pissed off at Tibes and TRPG code when I open it up and find more useless loops and global variables than hairs on my head (I have a full head of hair mind you).  Oh yeah, and we all know about steam.

I got a question.  Is it deemed unhealthy if my computer will jump +1 ghz for a couple seconds like that?
