The subtleties in life escape you, don't they? There's a difference between A and B.

A) Who wants my character?
B) My password is "GOOSE420".

Can you guess what it is, or do I have to spell it out for you? According to your logic, since Paradox now knows the password it is his character. Oh... wait a minute. If knowing the password is all it takes for a character to become yours, then, one, stolen characters aren't really stolen, they're given away. And two, since 20+ people in that server also knew the password, the character is now theirs as well. And since those 20+ people did not consent the password change, Paradox stole a character from each and every one of them.

Just because he was the first to run and open a new Tribes window does not make him the rightful and legal owner of that character.

Oh, and for future reference, I do not have a learning disability, nor am I unintelligent. Nice try, though.

Exactly LW, shorty gave it away, hence the reason no one is going to get the pw.

rofl silv!  Your looking a little too much into this..  shorty gave it away.  With this in mind, how could someone steal it from him?  I don't care if anyone gets the character, but the fact is that he gave it away to whoever wanted it.  You can't steal something that is given willingly..  I am giving you this key, which means you can not steal it from me because I have already given it to you.  OBVIOUSLY shorty gave his character away by spamming the password across the server..  whoever gets it gets it.  In this case, no one does, because the admins don't wish it to be anyone's character anymore.

For the last time, in plain and simple english (not to be over-analyzed):

He gave his character away by telling everyone the password.

Don't read between the lines when there is nothing there to read.

One man says to twenty men, "I am giving you all this key." One guy snatches it and runs away. Theft? Technically, it belonged to the group, didn't it? I'm not saying he stole the character from Shorty, I'm saying the character is not (rightfully) his.

Epilogue:
The man who stole the key put it in his pocket and never found it again.

It comes down to this...
Part and the admins run the server, if they say you cant have it, you CANT have it. Part is doing you a favor just by hosting, dont insult him by telling him what he has to do on his own server.

Shorty didn't say "I am giving you all this key."  He said "My pass is: *****".  Like I said, don't read between the lines when there isn't anything there.

//I totally agree with LastWish.  At the point where he broadcasted the password it was like saying "up for grabbs" while dangling a sandwich in front of a bunch of gradeschoolers.  Who ever got the sandwich was then the owner of the sandwich.

//As far as forgetting the password... it's his own damn fault and he there fore loses the character.  The lesson learned is; write down the password.

//adios!

You didn't actually give me a key, either. I was using your own analogy.

My analogy matched the situation at hand..  your's didn't--That is all I was saying.  Obviously, he couldn't very well give his character to more than one person--he gave out his password in a such a manner that whoever changed the password first became owner.  Naturally, that is stupid..  but hey, shorty never really DID have a thing for being smart..

*edit*I don't know why we are arguing about this..  I guess we are both too stubborn and hard-headed, no? =)
