Yeah i play arena from time to time. Psudeoknight, Lonewolf, Viltgance, Culist. Just some of my smurf names :D

All base has become is a spam fest! people say arena has no skills BAH! Lets see you take on 10 people when your the only one left alive on your team and win. All base is are fattys siting in spawn points or people useing capping routes that have been so raped that make pam ann look tight.

LOL. That was me. I was offering the models and basckground information to help. (been playing warhammer and 40k since the mid 80s.
Now, to tell the truth, I would have to do some serious digging to find the stuff for it and then, it would probobly take a few rather large e-mail attachments to send it to you.
pm me your e-mail if your serious about this. I would LOVE to get it started gaain.
Only problem I found with it was that it was only space marines and eldar. you could set it to be one versus the other or one against its twin or "all available" (my fav).
I was hoping to use trpg models for orcs and so forth to add in other races such as
orcs, goblins... orks
gnolls, present marines - chaos beastmen and marines
eldar models -dark eldar
could use base models as necrons
not sure, maybe trpg humans- tau
ect ect ect

The only thing that put some people off was the fact that not all armors could fly. (darn realism LOL)
Those who were not familier with the mythos took a bit to learn what did what, but you have that in ANY major mod till they learn it.

Dude! ! !  I thought it was you but I didn't want to say any thing.  I tried to help out with some theory but I didn't play WH40K yet so I didn't relaly know much at all.  The other members of the IS board were not very receptive and were pretty corrosive in their opinion of such a mod.

You had an avatar of a little statue that bent it's head sideways.... right?

Anyhow, I would very much like to get this goin, but the problem is still as it was in the past; time.  There is time, but never at the time that I have access to getting computer things done.

Yeah, that'll definitely stay up for more than a month.
[/sarcasm]

I see you wrote in sarcasm... but I am not sure what you mean?  Do you mean the angelfire will shut down my site or that the files won't be up for more than a month?  I've had my site since 1998 I think... and they haven't shut it down yet! :-)  As for it not being up much... well I do change the downloads around a bit... and some times forget to change the links page. :-p  It's not easy with only 20 MB of space these days... especially since I started with 5, went to 50, then was reduced to 20.  Arg!  I used to think I would never fill up 5 MB.... then I found TRPG and started to host some "sound fixes" I had made for the TRPG files, and some massive ammounts of tribes tools.

Anyway... I think I still have to get my other *real* webspace organized.  It's not easy to commit a day to getting much done around here. :-p heh.

The old TRPG models... from "old world rpg" might be usefull, as they still have a shoulder-mounted laser thingy and a little bit of the backpack sticking from their buts.  I think they look similar to Tau.

Damn space orks... their team would have to be huge to do any damage! :-p

Work beckons... I'll be back later. Peace.

You sure know alot for someone who hasnt played a competative game in your life. You obviously dont know wtf your talking about when it comes to CTF. But your opinion is not fact.

If arena players are so skilled lets see you do a HO cap on Ice Ridge in under 7 seconds on a full pub (im assuning your a leet arena player by what you say, and if CTF players suck, wich i am, then it should be easy)

I like the ideas for the "good armors" vs the "poor armors" of player choice.  There was a tribes mod that didn't have a name in which you could control all of the field turrets by walking in to them, or they would shoot by themselfes, and your armor choice was limited by how many of each armor was allready in the field, kind of like Arena... right? (arena has armor limitations based on how many of each type are in the field I think...)

Anyhow, the only real drawback I see of having the armor limitation is that a bunch of "newbe's" could get in there and take all the "good" armors.  The Experienced players would be stuck with the more difficult armors.

Also, we would need to work in some kind of dual attack mode... say if you are in hand to hand range, then the attack would switch from your ranged weapon to your hand to hand weapon automatically.... thus simulating the effects of hand to hand combat wh40k style.  There may be the problem of the other team then sniping you and the guy you are fighting while you are in HtH combat... so there would also need to be some thing to implement which would prevent HtH combateers from being shot at while in proximity of close combat to other players of an opposing force.

I am not a coder really.  I figured many little things out as time went by, and helped others figure other little things out, but implementing any of what I have just suggested is not with in my grasp right now.  It would take a lot of staring, experimenting, and thinking to get it done! heh.

Speaking of wh40k FPS games... ever play Space Hulk for DOS or try out the new Fire Warrior for Windows?  I hear that FW isn't very good, and I haven't seen much about Space Hulk (though I have it on cd and sealed in the box right next to me....) so I am just asking for informative reasons... hopefully to see if it's worth depacking for some amusement, r more worth keeping in tact for some future wh40k hardcore fan.

We should start a new topic down in the Dev Forum if Particle doesn't mind. :-)  We could at least get the general ideas down to "paper" there.

Space hulk is old school i have it for ps 1 and its good malarkey. i would like to contribute to this if i can in anyway. Altho evil has me beat in experince and units. Ive got more warhammer and 40k books than i can count scattered around my room. All current black library publications up todate. w/e all Warhammer mothlys, Infernos, And books. So! that being said me = information warhouse.  I have alot of ideas my self but i don't know how to put them into words with out it looking likes mush.

[base / arena comment]

I am sorry if i offended you with my statement about base. But CTF and arena are two diffrent things. I could not cap in 7 sec on ice ridge as a heavy. I admit. But Could you with only 2 times to accsess the invo and only medium and light armor win agianst anywhere from 5 - 10 people in arena? Yes i have been in a CTF match several for that matter. That is what i started out doing before i joined arena. and as for being able to cap in a pub. A pub is just that  a pub a bunch of mostly skill less players spamming and caping. Nuff said. :-/

and Arena players are just a bunch of lamers... who whore... spam with either plasma or nades.. and run around in shield packs... I don't see the skill or strategy required to double team... or freaking gang up on a single guy with 6 other guys...

I always hated when I was the last one standing... and ended up getting sniped... so lame

Besides, for the past 2 years tribes has been nothing but a big suckfest. Back in the day when there was accual competition and people hardly cheated, it was great. But now every CTF server i go on is just a buncha wannabe "leet" players 3 years too late for anyone to care how well they can cg whore with thier new found interpolating skills. Seriously is just pathetic when i see some players today talking smack saying they are so great and even compare themselves to the ranks of |5150| and [IE] when they havent been in a top 10 clan in thier life.

Are you just assuming it sucks because you suck at it yourself?  :x

how would one assume something if they know they suck at it... that would mean I would have to have played it... to know that I suck at it 0_O... which means no assumption has been made... your whole sentence is contradictory .. *sigh*

The only differences between Arena and Duel Mod... is duel is one on one.. not ten on one.... and whoring/sniping/shielding is frowned apon in... Duel

And to answer your question.... no I don't suck at it... I just don't respect players who whore, shield.... etc

Your wrong. Tribes Arena is one of the coolest mods in tribes. I play it and yes alot of people wh0re but the majority of people who play it use a variety of guns. Excluding the chaingun. Half of the maps are inside maps so not many people use the sniper rifle, and about basically everyone in tribes spams with grenades.

Kenshin you probably played Arena for a day and then got whored/sniped/whatever and then you say it sucks just because you died.

As long as its base it takes skill.

Anything that isnt, well, no one really cares bout mods as of 3 years ago when not even renegades could hold a competative ladder. Only mods that iv seen on TWL was Ren, shifter, havoc and i THINK ultra ren. All of wich bairly maintained their ladders and eventualy had them removed from lack of activity in thier competative commnity. Ren was the last one to go, all others were gone at least a year before ren was.

It just makes the people that play it dependant on all those better weapons they have in the game. Most mod players suck at base VERY badly. Because tehy dont got thier rocket launcher, thier rail gun, thier boosters and mortar grenades ect ect ect...

To me Base = Tribes. Mods are just stupid. (and for you that will jump on me saying trpg is a mod, its a CT so it dosnt really count.)
